Hotel at a Glance: Omni Shoreham Hotel

There’s history in the walls of the Omni Shoreham Hotel. Built in 1930, the glittering complex at the edge of Washington, DC’s Adams-Morgan neighborhood played host to some of the 20th century’s most notable celebrities and events; the Beatles stayed here, and the hotel’s ballroom has hosted Presidential inaugural balls for leaders ranging from FDR to Barack Obama. The hotel’s guest rooms reflect this august past, treating guests to granite-topped wet bars, capital-inspired artwork, and other furnishings befitting a head of state.

  • Eat well: The hotel features two restaurants and lounges; take in views of Rock Creek National Park during an adventurous culinary excursion at Robert’s Restaurant, or sip an old-fashioned at Marquee Bar and Lounge just off the main lobby. You can also grab coffee and pastries at Morsel’s, the onsite coffee shop.
  • Take a dip in the resort-style pool, which was named one of the best in the South by Southern Living.
  • Work out at the 24-hour fitness center, which features equipment ranging from ellipticals and recumbent bikes to free weights and rowing machines.
  • Notable awards: This hotel received the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence for 2016.

Adams Morgan, Washington, DC: Multicultural Playground in Nation’s Capital

The playfully risqué mural for local haunt Madam’s Organ—a tattooed woman with flowing red hair set across two buildings—unofficially welcomes visitors to DC’s Adams Morgan neighborhood, a popular dining and nightlife destination with a bohemian attitude. A stroll down 18th Street reveals Latin American art galleries, European-influenced bistros, and raucous karaoke bars, as well as restaurants hawking late-night food staples including piping hot empanadas and the city’s trademark jumbo slices of pizza.

A few Metro stops to the southeast, the National Mall draws about 24 million visitors each year. With the Washington Monument in its center, the Mall spreads from the Lincoln Memorial at its western edge to the U.S. Capitol building in the east. Open every day of the year except December 25, The Smithsonian’s 19 museums and galleries boasts 137 million objects and artworks in their collections, from the Hope Diamond at the National Museum of Natural History to the Apollo 11 command module at the National Air and Space Museum.

The Only Place to Stay When in DC I had a fantastic stay at The OMNI Shoreham Hotel. The hotel was beautiful, clean and in a great location. The food was delicious and the pool and gardens were very relaxing. But the best part of my stay was the staff, one person in particular was Cristal at the front desk. She went above and beyond what I expected. I hope the upper management reads this review, she deserves a promotion and raise! Thank you again to the entire staff that made my stay memorable. This is why I stay at Omni Hotels where ever I travel.

Hauntingly Beautiful Absolutely LOVED this place. Chase Justice greated us with a great attitude and made sure we had everything we needed. He checked us out as well and we had a great conversation with him and Cristal Phillips. Amazing customer service for sure. The hotel is beautiful with a haunting past. If you love spooky vibes with an Alice in Wonderland twist this is your spot. Gardens, pathways, and a zoo behind ya. What more can you ask for!

Do not reccomend First the vents over the check-in counter are leaking moldy water on people and they are at the desk. Second, no one sent the Pre-authorization on Sunday per our request. The valet parking only option should be noted when making the reservation. Once we get the car back from the Valet, it was obvious that someone had gone through the center counsel. The Valet driver drove the car too fast and scraped the ground coming out of the area. The food at the cafe was wrong almost every time we ordered. The last time it made us sick. (frappe) Then no one called the room or cell phones to let us know there was an issue with no payment on file because the pre-authorization wasn't sent. We were in the room all evening. They sent a man to our room at 11PM at night knocking on the door to tell us to call the main desk. The man had a hotel key card in his had with our room number on a sticky note. We were woken from sleep to this. This did not seem like a safe situation and made us worry and unable to sleep further because would that man have entered our room if we did not answer. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. I was also checking out in the lobby and the "manager" said that nothing has been paid and we could not leave. It was determined that again no one had sent the pre-authorization email to my employer. I also overheard another guest who was upset because while their car was parked with the mandatory valet overnight 3 windows were smashed on their car. They were not getting adequate service for this at all.
