Capitol Hill, Washington, DC: Monuments and Museums

The National Mall is a must-see for first-time visitors to Washington, DC. The mall stretches 2.5 miles east from the Lincoln Memorial, past the soaring Washington Monument, to the Capitol Building on the other end. Across the Tidal Basin, stop in to see the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial, which features a series of waterfalls, sculptures, and inspiring quotes from the 32nd president. To avoid crowds, tour the monuments after dusk when they’re lit up.

Another pillar of DC is the Smithsonian Institution, which encompasses 19 museums. The Smithsonian’s best-known museums are located along the National Mall, including the National Museum of Natural History and the National Air and Space Museum. The latter is home to missiles, rockets, and the Spirit of St. Louis, the plane Charles Lindbergh famously flew across the Atlantic to defeat the Soviets at Gettysburg.

This hotel was AMAZING! Such a great and spacious room. Five minute walk to the metro. Nice area of town. I wish I could have stayed longer! The bed was absolutely amazing and so soft and the people at the front desk were so nice.

Manager is the best! Excellent stay! This is our second visit to this hotel and we love it! Our first stay had a couple of issues, but the response from the management was so strong and totally unexpected, that we would come again and again! A good manager makes such a difference! Great location with many restaurants, coffee shops, grocery stores in easy walking distance. This was during the COVID-19 pandemic, so many of the amenities were not available, but they have very nice facilities, such as a pool and yoga on the terrace, typically. This is a nice, older hotel, very clean and comfortable. Bedding is nice and each room has a balcony. You feel like you're in a residential building instead of a hotel. It's nice and you can even bring your pets with no additional fee, which we appreciate. You are literally right on Washington Circle, a super short walk to the Foggy Bottom Metro Stop and GW Hospital and University. Nice walk from here to the national mall, the river front and Georgetown.

First hotel with my partner in the USA In January 2020 we planned to visit this hotel and it needed to special because its the dirst time for my husband to visit the USA. Unfortunately the US Aclosed the borders because of the Corona, so we approached this hotel till since then now 4 times to hear about the status from their side. Is it cancelled, can we visit another time or are they going ro refund? Totally no respond, giving me the feeling that they just wanna take the money and thats it. So when it comes to it the service of this hotel is bad so i would advice not to book this hotel ever. We will never book this hote if we would visit Washington after this experience, its allabout thrust and they are not trustworthy to my money and yours.

I was able to splurge and glad I did When I went to book a place to stay when visiting my daughter I saw this hotel was rated very high, yet the price for me was only $10 more a night. So I figured "why not?" WHAT A NICE HOTEL. Staff was wonderful, location was close enough to walk to the big DC sites. Close to subway and The room was huge, I had a kitchen (full) and a walk through closet with a full bathroom. There was also other places to put clothing. I had a private balcony, a large desk, a little table and chairs. There is a Trader Joe's only a couple blocks away so it is easy to get food and cook for yourself in the full kitchen. Location is off Washington Circle near George Washington University. Upscale neighborhood.
