I have small children (under the age of 5). The rules state that a the room has a maximum occupancy of 2. Is the maximum counting only adults, or do small children also count towards the occupancy? Thanks!

Maximum occupancy is based on local fire and disaster code and can not be exceeded. All guests will count towards occupancy.

Where do children stay when visiting this hotel?

Guests of all ages are welcome to stay, though you can not exceed the maximum occupancy of 2 guests per room (children count towards occupancy).
