Thousand Oaks, California: Wealthy City near the Santa Monica Mountains

The rugged Santa Monica Mountains separate the Pacific coast from the affluent city of Thousand Oaks, located about 15 miles inland. From Thousand Oaks, it’s just a quick jaunt into the scenic hills. A 6-mile round-trip hike on the Mishe Mokwa Trail leads up to Sandstone Peak. Along the way, hikers pass Echo Cliffs—a popular rock-climbing spot—and plenty of boulders, sandstone formations, and sheer cliff walls. Malibu’s legendary beaches, including Malibu Surfrider Beach, home of the Malibu Pier, are about 20 miles from Thousand Oaks.

Beautiful Hotel! My family loved our stay and did not want to leave.... Great hotel! Definitely a hidden gem in Thousand Oaks. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the Oxnard/Camarillo/Ventura area. My family and I came for a baseball tournament in nearby Camarillo and noticed that this hotel was rated very high. In my opinion this hotel is an excellent value. The hotel room was recently remodeled and was very comfortable for my family of 4. The bathroom was big and accommodating as well. The hotel has also gotten a facelift and looks very classy and up to date. What I loved most about the hotel is the theming and decorations are well done throughout the hotel. The new restaurant/lounge is awesome and I really loved that as a hotel guest you are given two free drink tickets every single night of your stay. Note: you must stop by the front desk and ask for those drink tickets! Selmy's (the restaurant/lounge) is a very nice place for a date night or just a cool place to stop in and have a bite/drink. I wish I had taken photos, but I will definitely stop by Selmy's when I'm passing by. My kids loved the pool/spa and loved that it's huge and accommodating for all ages with plenty of seating along the pool. The only thing my kids complained about was the breakfast options. My kids wished there were either pancakes or waffles as an option aside from the daily: scrambled eggs, roasted potatoes, sausages, cereal, oatmeal, bagels, and toast. Either way, I am still rating this hotel 5 out of 5 because of the excellent value it provided. I would recommend this boutique hotel to anyone and everyone visiting or traveling through the area.

Pass up on this one. Description of the hotel said the the restaurant would in operation in June. But did not say June 30th. So there was no restaurant, no bar service except complementary drinks ONLY FOR THOSE WHO HAD BOOKED DIRECTLY WITH THE HOTEL. So we were discriminated against because we book through a third party. Never experienced that before. Breakfast was the most I have ever had anywhere. greasy sausages, potatoes and premade eggs, coffee, cereal and bagels to toast. NO yogurt or cut fruit.. Bad coffee so we had to go outside for it. Tiny mall nearby with supermarket and newly opened diner type restaurant. In and Out to far to walk. Very inconvenient and had to hire cars to get around and visit our relatives. Bed was worn out on one side. Water pressure very low.

Comfortable stay at a clean friendly hotel Check-in is always very smooth. Josh G. and Jessica D. checked us in. Very quick, friendly, professional. Our room was very clean and the shower was great! We ejoy staying at the Palm Garden. The electricity went out the second moring we were there. The electrician came and worked to make things right. We were moved to another room even though the hotel seemed very full witha softball group checked in> We look forward to the restaurant opening. That will be very conveinyent.
