Celebrating my 71st Birthday! Celebrated my 71st birthday here and a time was had. Server Javier and my room attendant Carmen made it very special. First of all the entire staff were courtesy, professional and amazing. The room wasn’t luxurious but it served its purpose. The property is very well kept and absolutely beautiful. On my birthday, from very restaurants they sang Happy Birthday and presented me with a Happy Birthday treat. Carmen decorated my bed with balloons _ and streamers and even designed a 2 layer cake out of towels. My whole day I felt celebrated and happy I chose this resort to celebrate at. Javier, man was friendly and attentive and on point. Some friends and myself wanted seafood for my birthday meal and Javier hook us up. 2 jumbo platters and way more food than we could eat. Thanks Javier! He even hooked me up the day I was leaving. Thanks to the whole entire resort for making me and my 71st birthday feel special!!

Mexico's Riviera Maya: Rich with History and Tropical Calm

Just south of Cancún, the Riviera Maya is a nearly 80-mile stretch of Caribbean coastline fronted by towns rich in Mexican culture. For some of the area’s best beaches, clubs, and snorkeling reefs, head to the rapidly growing city of Playa del Carmen. Farther south, Tulum sits on a perch of rocky bluffs and is better known for ancient ruins, including temples and a cliff-side castle. The inhabitants of Tulum—which means "walled" in the aboriginal language—first erected the city's outer fortress to protect themselves from belligerent invaders. Today, the wall guards the archaeological zone, beginning with an entryway of two corbel arches and a limestone house built over an underwater cave.

Swimming in the secret caves isn’t allowed, but a scenic drive south of Playa del Carmen brings you to the Yucatán Peninsula's legendary limestone cenotes, freshwater sinkholes created by an underground river system. At the Cenote Cristalino, you can jump from terraced outcroppings into an exposed pool or go snorkeling in underwater caves. You can also watch locals expertly flip, dive, and synchronously cannonball into the clear water at this popular weekend hangout.

Most Disappointing Cancun Resort in 10+ Trips This review will be mostly negative but I'll start with the positives. The restaurants, pools, food, drinks, and staff are all great. Especially the outdoor activities staff namely Jorge. Definitely do his water aerobics, he is full of energy and positivity. Marcellus in the La Casona restaurant does the best coffee fire dessert presentation I've seen anywhere and is a fantastic server on top of it. Sergio and Alejandro at the pool are awesome. The staff as a whole minus some front desk employees are fantastic. The excursions staff are great especially David. They booked us at a better rate than anything online for Xelha, which they recommended. Xelha is a beautiful place with so many fun water experiences, I will recommend it to anyone. Take the time to talk with these folks. Palmar is part of Tafer Group which purchased this former Azul resort from Karisma end of 2024. They're in a 15% capacity "soft opening" which they try their best to conceal through any ways of booking. They also use this as an excuse at the front desk for any issues. The morning front desk staff is ok. The afternoon and night Supervisor Roberto is rude and not helpful. He will tell anyone in ear shot what you paid for your stay and use that against you. Imagine going to the grocery store and the cashier chastises you for using a coupon in front of everyone. Just immature. The sargassum is out of control. It's piled up 5 feet high and stinks up a lot of the resort. They need to get a Bobcat and haul that out of there. There's no beach because of it, zero. Our Air conditioning did not work, the room was over 80 F, which is hard to sleep in. They never did fix it but eventually after 2 days switched us to a different room. The building elevator was broken for 2 days for a 4 story building. We used the stairs whatever but the poor room service and cleaning staff had to lug everything up there which sucks. We went to the timeshare or ownership 90 minute tour which is a really tough sale given the lousy experience a lot of guests we talked to had at the resort. Their other properties sound nice but this one is not. We won't be back here. There's many, many better resorts in Cancun that will treat you better, apologize for issues and fix them, and remove seaweed every morning.

Still on soft opening/no people or activities This resort has potential but they have not been honest and upfront with their guests. I will start with the negative and end on a positive note. Ps we are currently still here. 1. Check in- average, no special drinks or explanation of what there is to do at the resort. No mention of the soft opening and the fact this used to be hotel Azul and palmar took over in January. 2. I asked about an upgraded room and 3/4 of the resort is empty, still wasn't willing to budge on any type of discount. 3. Our air conditioner didn't work the first 2 days. I talked to over a dozen people and by day 3 I went to the front desk and nicely asked for a supervisor. I am traveling with a 9 and 14 yr old and husband. We love mexico and truly have never been treated poorly in all our years of traveling.... .until now. Roberto at the front desk was extremely rude and I asked to switch rooms. I asked if we could be on the ground floor by the pool .......he said "you already got a good deal when you originally booked, so no". We were moved 2 doors down to the same room. Also the elevator broke day one and the hot water only works in a few rooms. The room is beautiful, but terrible service and attitude from the front desk. No help at all packing all our stuff up. The bell man did come and help me carry it to a new room. 4. There is nothing going on at the resort. They did water aerobics (the 5 People at the pool attended our of boredom). George was awesome though. The had volleyball and water polo for 15 min each day. Not sure why it was so quick. No entertainment at night, no team or activities for the kids. It's like a ghost town. 5. No food served outside!! None. All indoors and no snack bars or anything. The 2 pool bas serve drinks. 5. We travel to Mexico often so we knew the smell of seaweed was unavoidable but they have ZERO beach. Not even attempting to clean some of the beach up. It's really sad. 6. Last night 3 huge busses dropped off at least 200 people. Apparently when a flight is cancelled, they are housed at this resort. Which meant restaurants are overwhelmed because they are only staffed for the amount of guests staying at the resort originally. Ridiculous. Ok good: all the employees except Roberto have been very kind. Food is decent. Service at restaurants is not too bad timewise. Room service too over an hour but the poor elderly man had to carry it up 3 flights of stairs. I felt awful for him. No one has even looked at the elevator. The few people we have met here have been kind and understanding. Rooms are pretty, pool is a good. Temp. Most guests were leaving the resort to go to excursions because lack of activities at at the hotel. We spent 525 USD to go to xeha. A few others spent around the same to do a day trip to isle mujeres.

Quiet, Relaxing Vacation Me and my friend had a nice, relaxing time here. The pools were great. We liked our swim up room. There weren't a lot of people around us, so the quiet was peaceful. The food was good. Highly recommend the pizza restraunt and the mussels and clam chowder at the seafood restaurant. Room service was quick and convenient. We booked an excursion out to Maroma Beach to go ride camels with the resort- they were very helpful and made it easy to get there and back. All the staff was very nice in general. There IS a strong seaweed smell outside. And the beach doesn't seem to be very usable right now. But everything else was great _

Unforgettable Stay at Palmar Beach Riviera Maya – A Dream Getaway! _✨ My husband Yogi and I had the most incredible time at Palmar Beach Riviera Maya – All Inclusive! From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the amazing staff, setting the tone for a truly memorable vacation. The property is absolutely stunning and perfect for relaxation. Housekeeping service to anywhere on the property we were being asked and taken care of. It was on point. But what really stood out to us was the food – it's a huge part of our travel experience, and this place did not disappoint! Every single day, we were blown away by the presentation of the dishes and the freshness of the ingredients. It truly felt like a fine dining experience at every meal. We especially fell in love with Davino’s and Pinxos32 – I couldn't stop raving about them! Every bite was delicious, and the service was top-notch. A huge shoutout to Willbert, Jimmy, Pablo, and the wonderful host team – they made us feel so comfortable and genuinely welcomed every single day. Their friendliness and hospitality made all the difference. We also had an impeccable spa experience , one of the best we've ever had! Thank you to Natalie, Mitzi, and Magalia for being so attentive and kind. Special thanks to Karly, my massage therapist, hands down one of the best massages I’ve ever had and to Wendy, who treated my husband. Every spa amenity needs a team like this! We’re already are planning of coming back. Thank you to the entire team for making our trip so special! _
