Hotel at a Glance: Paradise Stream

Paradise Stream is nestled amid the forests, lakes, and peaks of northeastern Pennsylvania's Pocono Mountains. The 1960s brought a flood of publicity for the area that resulted in the Poconos being named the “Honeymoon Capital of the World.” Paradise Stream still maintains that romantic feel; it’s an adults-only property, and many guest rooms still have the heart-shaped tubs that made the resort famous.

  • Get physical with numerous activities including hiking, basketball, and tennis.
  • Indoor activities: racquetball, swimming, and game room.
  • Couples massage: unwind in the spa with relaxing body and facial treatments (extra fees apply).
  • Step onto the dance floor at Paradise Stream’s nightclub.

Pennsylvania's Pocono Mountains: Hiking, Trout Fishing, and Historical Towns

The Poconos region of northeastern Pennsylvania accounts for some 2,400 square miles of mountains, lakes, waterfalls, and forests. The area has been a popular vacation destination ever since Pennsylvania Quakers opened a hotel here on the Delaware River in 1829. Today, the Poconos draw more than 25 million annual visitors, thanks to year-round recreational opportunities and stunning natural scenery.

The warmer months are a great time to explore the region’s lakes and wooded hills. For spectacular hikes, check out Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, where you can trek to dramatic waterfalls or follow a 27-mile section of the historic Appalachian Trail. A handful of little towns full of antique shops and galleries nestle in the mountains, too. You'll find boutique wine galleries and historical mansions tucked away on country roads, including the late 19th-century Asa Packer Mansion, which is open for tours, in the borough of Jim Thorpe.

Awesome stay, some service opportunities. We had a great time. Staff was great, addressed room issues immediately when we arrived. They didn’t have overnight housekeeping, we had to use a hairdryer to dry some spilled water on our sheets. The property info binder in the rooms are outdated and does not contain current menu (Spooners), so we really didn’t use it. Light switches all over the room, a few did not work as labeled, but we figured it out. In-suite plunge pool wasn’t as warm as expected and no way to increase temperature. We did find out on the last dinner, that the entree all inclusive dinner meals are all you can eat, but there was no mention anywhere about this on the resort handouts, we found out from our waiter. In addition, I could not finish my first plate entree, and was informed that they could not provide a take out container, I was so puzzled and disappointed about this info. There were activities planned every 30 minutes during our say and evening entertainment in the night club area. CXO Megan was awesome in facilitating the activities.

Nice resort but definitely needs some TLC! When we checked in to our first room, a champagne tower suite, the indoor pool was ice cold. We called the front desk and they were very friendly and said they would have someone come right away to look into it. After waiting over an hour for maintenance to show up, someone from the front desk finally came and actually had keys to a new room for us. They said there was no hot water at all in that particular room. We were moved to another champagne tower suite in a different building. We were very disappointed that in this room there were no working star lights in the bedroom, no working star lights above the champagne tower, and no working pool lights. When you are paying so much money for your stay, it's disappointing to not have everything in working order. It would have been nice to know beforehand that these were not working. It definitely took some of the charm away from the room. When we went to the indoor pool we were shocked to see a broken railing and broken steps leading into the hottub, especially becuase this was the only working hot tub as the other was drained and looked to have extensive damage. Definitely didn't seem safe! There were a few places around the property where things were not in great shape, or were downright unusable. The resort is nice, but definitely needs some major TLC in some areas. I must say that every single staff member we interacted with was absolutely wonderful! Everyone is very kind and seems to want to make sure the guests are having a great time. We enjoyed the many activities offered throughout the day and evening, had nice meals in the dining room, and had a good time with the evening entertainment. Overall, it was a nice getaway but it would have been better with some much needed attention given to the facilities.

THE STREAM LOVERS Hubby and I LOVE the stream! We just got back and are on a countdown to our next visit ! That's our family away from CT!!! The staff is amazing! We had a few mishaps but nothing that wasn't fixed!!! The highlight of our year!!! We always feel at home and hate when we have to leave! Champagne towers are our favorite! The round beds are so comfy!
