Hotel at a Glance: Paradise Stream

Paradise Stream is nestled amid the forests, lakes, and peaks of northeastern Pennsylvania's Pocono Mountains. The 1960s brought a flood of publicity for the area that resulted in the Poconos being named the “Honeymoon Capital of the World.” Paradise Stream still maintains that romantic feel; it’s an adults-only property, and many guest rooms still have the heart-shaped tubs that made the resort famous.

  • Get physical with numerous activities including hiking, basketball, and tennis.
  • Indoor activities: duckpin bowling, swimming and hot tub, ping pong, air hockey, video arcade games, billiards,, and fitness equipment.
  • Outdoor fun" bicycling, archery, lawn games, pedal boats, fishing, miniature golf, pickleball
  • Couples massage: unwind in the spa with relaxing body and facial treatments (extra fees apply).
  • Step onto the dance floor at Paradise Stream’s nightclub.

Pennsylvania's Pocono Mountains: Hiking, Trout Fishing, and Historical Towns

The Poconos region of northeastern Pennsylvania accounts for some 2,400 square miles of mountains, lakes, waterfalls, and forests. The area has been a popular vacation destination ever since Pennsylvania Quakers opened a hotel here on the Delaware River in 1829. Today, the Poconos draw more than 25 million annual visitors, thanks to year-round recreational opportunities and stunning natural scenery.

The warmer months are a great time to explore the region’s lakes and wooded hills. For spectacular hikes, check out Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, where you can trek to dramatic waterfalls or follow a 27-mile section of the historic Appalachian Trail. A handful of little towns full of antique shops and galleries nestle in the mountains, too. You'll find boutique wine galleries and historical mansions tucked away on country roads, including the late 19th-century Asa Packer Mansion, which is open for tours, in the borough of Jim Thorpe.

Nice place, would visit again! Place was nice. Rooms were clean, had a musty smell in some parts of the room. Loved how they had different activities for the day, that was a plus. Breakfast in the morning was great! We didn’t opt in for the dinner but the menu looked really good! We got upgraded to another room, that was nice. The cell phone service is horrible but not sure if it was the area or AT&T service that we have. The WiFi didn’t do much because we were so far away from the router, need to put in WiFi booster for the farther away lodging.

The adventure of staying at Paradise Stream... Well, my wife and I headed to Paradise Stream Resort for our 25th anniversary. As I noticed on other reviews Paradise Stream Resort is dated, but it is only dated because the company has not invested enough to maintain the resort in our humble opinion. We stayed in the Champagne Towers, room 426 for four nights. We enjoyed our meals and the staff were pleasant and respectful. We enjoyed the afternoon activities and advertised adventures, Tiki Boat tour at Cove Haven and the Pocono Bike rental in Jim Thorpe. This is where our enjoyment dives. Both the in-room and jacuzzi champagne tower tub needed to be resurfaced. The lighting system above the the champagne tub did not work due to a malfunctioning part. At this point, if these rooms are not fully functioning then do not allowed them to be reserved because I was informed that all of the lighting systems above the Champagne jacuzzi tubs had a malfunctioning part. Our bathroom was updated but the plumbing was slow, low pressure, one of the tiles leading to the jacuzzi was unleveled or rather pressed in farther than the rest, and the exhaust fan needed to be dusted. We are not sure having the refrigerator located in the bathroom is a good location in the room. Current hotel locations that cost more that $250/night have smart TVs. Luckily, we brought a laptop with HDMI cable so we can watch some Netflix. The resort needs to contract some sort of lawn/landscaping company. The flower beds had some weeds. I don't mind some weeds because the resort in the woods, but the lawn could have more grass than weeds. The bowling alley and the indoor hot tub was not functioning ins the Spooners restaurant/bar. I was little surprise that the video games required quarters, but at least there was a change machine. The dining facility seem to offer a special table setup dinner with possibly wine/champagne, rose pedals, and balloons. We wished we knew how could request this setup for our anniversary, but didn't. Overall, we enjoyed our time together, but will vacation somewhere else where the facilities are updated and we can have more of view from our room.
