Hotel at a Glance: Park Central Hotel New York

Years ago, guests such as Mae West, Eleanor Roosevelt, and Jackie Gleason cemented the reputation of the Park Central Hotel New York. Now, the hotel balances its old-world charm with modernity, thanks to a multimillion-dollar renovation in 2013 by the award-winning Jeffrey Beers International design firm. Enjoy a drink at the onsite lounge, where crystal chandeliers light an art deco-inspired dining room with towering ceilings and floating staircases.

  • Get some sleep in your classic or premier room, which features pillow-top mattress, iDock station, and 46-inch LED TV.
  • Relax with a drink at Park Lounge, the signature bar serving tailored cocktails (currently closed).
  • Fit in a workout at the hotel's fitness center. It's equipped with Cybex stationary bikes, a treadmill, and more (currently closed).
  • Within walking distance: Times Square, the Museum of Modern Art, Rockefeller Center, and Central Park's southernmost border
  • Explore Manhattan via numerous transit stops nearby.
  • Design inspiration: Architect Jeffrey Beers called the hotel's new design "a love letter to New York City."

Times Square, Manhattan: Flashy Neon Lights and World-Class Culture

Times Square is at the intersection of Broadway and Seventh Avenue in Midtown Manhattan. The famous address—affectionately known as “the Crossroads of the World”—is home to hypnotizing billboards, giant wraparound news tickers, and the neon lights of Broadway. Beyond the glitz and gimmicks, there are a number of cultural offerings in the area, ranging from museums to Michelin-rated restaurants. Buildings of historical and architectural interest include the Paramount Building and One Times Square, the site of the annual New Year's Eve ball drop.

Nearby, the Museum of Modern Art houses a trove of masterpieces including Vincent van Gogh's The Starry Night, Claude Monet's Water Lilies paintings, and Andy Warhol's Campbell's Soup Cans. Save time for a stroll through the museum's outdoor sculpture garden, where installations are clustered around sparkling reflecting pools. About a mile north of Times Square, the David H. Koch Theater is home to one of the world’s foremost dance companies—the New York City Ballet, which stages contemporary works as well as classics like Swan Lake and The Nutcracker.

The BEST hotel in central Manhattan for service and price! This big NYC hotel acts like a “boutique hotel,” with the best location, north of Times Square… away from the masses of tourists and very close to Central Park. The real asset of this hotel is the Staff. Diego, the reservationist, is very kind and patient. We prefer to reserve a room directly with a hotel. In this way if something goes awry, the hotel itself is accountable. Emanuel, at check in, is so kind and accommodating to our needs and requests (my wife has mobility issues). Overall, all the staff is wonderful, pleasant and professional… even the great Carmello runs the front door with such efficiency and charm, quickly getting us into taxis. We always look forward to our next visit, whether on business, or exploring NYC.

⚠️ WARNING: Scam at this hotel ⚠️ The front desk staff and the manager were extremely rude and unprofessional — and we were scammed. They falsely claimed their “system detected” that we smoked in our room. This is 100% FALSE. We do not smoke and we never smoked in the room. Despite having NO proof, they charged our card an extra $500 PER DAY!!! _ We were NOT the only victims. Other guests on different floors were complaining about the same thing. This looks like a recurring scam where it becomes your word against theirs and they charge you anyway. ❌ Avoid this hotel at all costs!!!

Well known scam at this hotel. Be careful. Shame as the rest of the experience was good. Please be careful at checkout. They tried to pull a quick one and charge us a “smoking fee” of $1000. We never smoked in the hotel room - never have and never would in my life. As I was disputing it, 3 other guests were having the same dispute with their hotel during their checkout. Spoke to the doorman at the time and he said it’s a known scam they the hotel try to pull all the time and he’s witnessed it too many times. Thankfully blocked my card as they tried to consistently take the money over and over again before giving up. The fact that an employee there admitted to the scam is frightening. Maybe freeze your card before you checkout to make sure they don’t try it on you too! Shame because other than that, had a great time at the hotel apart from a room heater that they couldn’t fix which was blowing out cold air the whole time. Safe to say I wouldn’t come here again and will be recommending everyone I know to avoid this hotel at all costs
