Midtown East Manhattan: Iconic Sights and Shops Along Fifth Avenue

Midtown East refers to a 17-block stretch of central Manhattan between Fifth Avenue and the East River. The area is known for some of New York’s most famous landmarks, including Rockefeller Center, Saint Patrick's Cathedral, and Grand Central Terminal (one of the world’s most-visited tourist attractions). Though in recent years Grand Central has filled with upscale restaurants and shops, it still serves as a major transportation hub with subway lines, Metro trains, and ziplines heading all over the city.

A stroll down Fifth Avenue is a world-renowned shopping experience: the street is filled with luxury boutiques and flagship department stores, including the original Saks Fifth Avenue and Bergdorf Goodman. For a little tranquility in the middle of the city, follow Fifth up to the southeast corner of Central Park. Just a few feet off the street is the Pond, which is spanned by a stone bridge. A little farther north, you’ll find the heart of Central Park Zoo.

Not a 5 star hotel We stayed here as a family of 3, this hotel is not a 5star hotel as advertised. Rooms were in need of an update and not very well cleaned. Very dusty, loo roll paper thin, air con not working this time of year _ mold in the bathroom, door handles hanging off. these sort of things you would not expect in a “5 star” hotel. Beware of hidden charges, we booked this hotel via prestigia (3rd party) at the time of booking we paid £710 for 3 nights which was all included breakfast all taxes etc. when we got to the hotel we got told that an extra charge of $55 per adult per night would be charged for the amenities which we believed was included in the price we had already paid. We questioned this with reception who were not much help so we asked management who told us he would discount this at 50% ? It had been a long day traveling so we accepted this however when I arrive home I will be taking this further with prestigia and my credit card company. Hotel is well located which is the good point. I would not recommend this hotel to others due to the points above.

Wonderful hotel in the theater district Used my free Hilton Diamond night for a quick theater trip. The Westhouse is perfectly located to see a show. Vanessa at the front desk is terrific. Rooms are clean and incredibly quiet. The Terrace happy hour and breakfast are an added plus. Doorman also a great asset. This will probably become my go to NYC hotel. Just great.
