The Las Vegas Strip: 24/7 Entertainment and Fine Dining

With an almost unlimited variety of casinos, bars, and live entertainment, the consensus along the Las Vegas Strip seems to be “go big or go home.” And you can go big here. Make a beeline for the dozens of 24-hour casinos lining the neon-lit Strip to tango with Lady Luck in high-stakes roulette, blackjack, and poker games. Be sure to stick around for mealtimes—casinos on the Strip are known for their fine-dining restaurants.

Even Sin City isn’t all casinos, all the time. Go shopping at the high-end boutiques in most Las Vegas Strip hotels. Head to LINQ Promenade for a shopping and dining experience, then ride atop the High Roller observation wheel. Thanks to the strip’s re-creation of the Eiffel Tower at Paris Las Vegas and the Roman Empire at Caesars Palace, you can virtually travel the globe in just a few city blocks.

Lack of room amenities Stayed here for four nights. Rooms were basic with no shower cap, toothbrush etc. Asked concierge and told to buy from the overpriced shop. Wouldn’t provide a kettle. Room was only serviced once. Starbucks coffee downstairs cost $12. Hotel well located but I won’t stay here again.

Extra Upgrade Charges at Arrival for Old, Outdated Room We had booked an Ultra Hip King room in February for our stay in July. The day of arrival, I did online check-in but never received the email stating the room was ready. When checking in at the front desk, we were told they no longer had our room type available and in order to have a king bed, we would have to upgrade for an extra $65/night. While considering our options, the receptionist said the extra $65/night upgraded suite may no longer be available and it may now be an extra $75/night. It definitely felt like a high pressure sales tactic. We decided to upgrade to the extra $65/night suite to have a king bed. We were asked if we wanted daily housekeeping or clean towels. We said no to housekeeping, yes to towels. After night 2 of our stay, we asked for towels. We got them after a 2nd request was made after night 3, an hour and a half before check out. The suite itself has seen better days and is not reflective of the suites pictured on the website. All furniture was heavily worn, scratched, dinged up, or upholstery was stained. Wallpaper peeling from the walls, older TVs, lamps were difficult to turn on/off (some didn’t work at all and had just been unplugged from the wall), and the USB charging station didn’t work. The suite had plenty of outlets, but none conveniently located near the bedside tables, where most people charge their phones. Bathroom lighting was less than ideal for applying makeup, and the room itself was dimly lit, even with all lights on and window shades open. The suite did have a decent view of the Sphere and long range mountain views. The in-room ice maker was also convenient. Overall, this essentially “forced” upgrade was not worth the additional fees incurred. The space was outdated, towel requests went unanswered (until an hour and a half before check-out???), and after this experience, I will definitely choose another hotel when I’m next in Las Vegas.

Outdated rooms, filthy windows, rude mgr Roberto, no housekeeping. Better options on the Strip — avoid Planet Hollywood! I rarely write reviews, but my experience at Planet Hollywood Hotel & Casino was so disappointing that I feel obligated to warn others. First, the rooms are extremely outdated and run down — nowhere near what you’d expect for what they charge. Everything feels old, worn out, and poorly maintained. The air conditioning barely works, which is miserable in the middle of a Las Vegas summer. I paid extra for a room with a “view” of the Strip and the Bellagio fountains, but the windows were so filthy that it completely defeated the purpose of paying extra. Don’t waste your money — you won’t see anything through the dirt and grime. Customer service here is atrocious. Room service is deplorable — our room was not serviced at all, and when I brought it up with Roberto, the manager on duty at night on 7/20, he was rude, condescending, and lacked even basic customer service skills. He told me, “Room service is NOT guaranteed,” and that the “Resort Fees don’t even cover/include housekeeping.” I was shocked — apparently you can pay extra resort fees and still not get basic cleaning service? With so many great hotels in Las Vegas, there is absolutely no reason to waste your money here. Do yourself a favor and stay literally anywhere else on the Strip. I will never stay here again — and I strongly recommend you don’t either.
