New Rochelle, New York: Historic Town near New York City

Spend a day in New Rochelle, and you’re bound to come across Huguenot Street. The street’s name is a nod to the town’s 300-year history, which began when Huguenots, or French Protestants, settled here and named it after the French town of La Rochelle. There’s a monument carved with the names of the Huguenots in Hudson Park, the waterfront park where their ships first came to shore. Another historic attraction in town is the Thomas Paine Cottage, where Paine, a Revolutionary War hero and author of Common Sense, lived in from 1802 to 1806.

Of course, you can’t overlook the big attraction in these parts: New York City. Times Square is just 20 miles from New Rochelle. This famous intersection—affectionately known as “the Crossroads of the World”—is home to hypnotizing billboards, giant wraparound news tickers, and the neon lights of Broadway. Beyond the glitz and gimmicks, there are a number of world-class cultural offerings in the area, ranging from museums to Zagat-rated restaurants.

Wedding Reception This is mostly a review of the banquet hall downstairs and the staff for a wedding reception! My wife and I recently got married at the Korean Presbyterian Church of Westchester (also in New Rochelle, very close by. Would HIGLY recommend for a wedding ceremony venue if you want to do it at a church. Super beautiful!) and we were blessed to find this venue for the reception as well. Price: compared to most (if not all) other wedding venues, the price per person was more affordable. The hotel is also willing to work with you to figure a good budget. Space: The outside of the building isn't the most fancy/pretty but the banquet event space downstairs was great. We had about 190 guests (they can fit up to 200) and everyone was comfy and it was still enough to have a decent sized dance floor. I would maybe recommend about 150-175 people though. One REALLY cool thing is that they have projectors on the walls where you can put up pictures, gifs, images, backgrounds to help set the mood for the space. I do wish they had a few more lighting options for the room though. Food: the appetizers were delicious! we loved the chicken chorizo croquetas, steak crostini, and shrimp ceviche the most but they were all good. Then the dinner was done buffet style which is nice. The steak and salmon were both delicious but I liked the steak a little more. Guests also said that the food was delicious and liked the buffet style. Service/Communication: BIG shouout to Kellyann (our point person leading up to the event and our Maitre D for the actual reception). She was very super helpful and good about communicating with us through the thousands of questions and requests that we had. (someone give her a raise/bonus!) The other hotel staff were also great on the day of. Location: very convenient. Lots of parking on site. Also close to the New Rochelle Metro North Station. Room: My wife and I stayed there overnight and the room was good! Nothing fancy but clean and comfortable. OVERALL: if you need a space to host a wedding reception or other event, I'd highly recommend Hotel Noma!

Worst Hotel experience ever. BUYER BEWARE! I booked a one night hotel stay at this hotel. The pictures are not accurate. The sheets are dingy and appear not to be pressed. The pillows (even with 3 piled) do not provide support. Paint peeling on walls. The biggest issue was the club/restaurant that is in the lobby that blares Loud music and patrons until 2am. While the bass and sound from the music shakes the guest room. The front desk when called, said, we know but it will Be over at 2am. 2am!!!!! As if that is acceptable. When checking out and talking to the manager they are aware of the noise but do not disclose it to Guests prior to or at check in. Needless to say i got no sleep and vowed never to return there again. Buyer beware!!!!

Clean and convenient, but LOUD We arrived after 9pm on a rainy Sat night. The valet staff were only parking for an event on site. It was very hard to find a parking spot. The music is VERY loud from the restaurant/club. Thankfully our room was on the 5th floor. Room was clean and quiet. The bed is extremely comfortable. However, as many reviewers have noted this is a LOUD scene. No place to have a quiet drink after travelling. Even at midnight there were loud patrons running down the halls on the 5th floor.
