Great hotel with breakfast for a good price We stayed at this hotel for a competition that was close by. The location was great; near the freeway but not to close to hear the noise. The hotel is new or has been renovated. It is very nice and our room was roomy and nicely furnished and clean. The hot/cold breakfast was very good and lots of choices. We didn't use any other amenities but they had them. We would happily stay here again.

Phoenix, Arizona: Bustling Metropolis and Native American Culture Surrounded by Desert

Phoenix enjoys about 300 days of sunshine a year, which has helped it to balloon into the sixth-largest city by population in the United States. It’s also 1 of only 12 US cities with at least four major sports teams: the Arizona Cardinals (NFL), the Phoenix Suns (NBA), the Arizona Diamondbacks (MLB), and the Phoenix Coyotes (NHL).

Though the topography of the Phoenix area is all desert, it’s by no means desolate. Camelback Mountain is a designated city park area with scenic trails that wind past boulders and red-sandstone formations; climb to the very top for a view of the entire city. Or hit the themed trails at the Desert Botanical Garden filled with southwestern flora such as huge sonoran cacti and other moisture-hoarding succulents. Either way, plan hikes in the early morning or twilight hours to catch the most stunning sunlit views and stay cool.

For an in-depth look at the cultures of Arizona’s indigenous population, browse the 12 exhibition galleries and sculpture garden at the Heard Museum. The collection’s nearly 40,000 pieces of art range from 500 Hopi katsina dolls to a full-size Pueblo oven. In nearby Scottsdale, Frank Lloyd Wright’s Taliesin West was the renowned prairie-style architect’s winter home as well as a campus for his architecture school.

Avoid at all cost ! Checked in and requested to modify my reservation as my business plans had changed last minute. Front desk assured me I could simply check out the next day, and they would assist me. Upon checkout, the very dismissive front desk clerk said he would charge me an early departure fee, which contradicts the previous night clerk. Hilton Customer Service advised me that the hotel has the ability to make exceptions, especially for Hilton Honor members. I filed a dispute with my credit card company after calling almost everyday for two weeks, and being told the system is down, manager is not here, let me take down your information and someone will get back to you, and being on hold and hung up on by Hilton Customer service. Front desk employees are constantly on their phone, you walk by and they don’t even acknowledge you, they are rude and dismissive, the lady who checked me in was the only one who was nice. I was also charged for continental breakfast, which is free at other hotels, powdered eggs, sausage links, breads, fruit, and yogurt. Room was clean, bed comfortable, hotel is quiet, but I was put in a room literally a mile from the elevator. Will definitely look for another location for my next stay. Would not recommend based on poor customer service.

Stay away I want to keep this as brief as possible, but I could go on... The good: 1) Warm cookie was delicious, 2) We stayed in a pet-friendly room (Rm 131), which had a sliding door opening up to the pool area, which was really nice, but what good was that (read below). 3) Fitness center was nice The bad: 1) About an hour after we checked in and wanted to check out the restaurant/bar signs went up saying that the restaurant/bar/room service were closed for the night (Saturday), 2) Thought I would go for a soak in the hot tub, which looked really nice in the pictures. Sorry, broken. The pool was dirty and murky (couldn't see the bottom). When I asked the front desk about it I was told yes, the hot tub was broken. When I said the pool was filthy and you couldn't see the bottom I was told "That's weird, they just filled it 4 days ago". I said it's obviously not heated, and no it is not. What good is a pool if it's not heated? We stayed the nights of December 16 and 17. Conveniently, when I returned home to write this the website for the hotel says the pool and tub are closed from the 18th-24th for maintenance. A BIG reason we stayed there was for a bit of sun and to enjoy the pool/tub. Had I known they were not available I would have booked somewhere else. 3) The room was tired. 4) The carpet in the hallway is filty and needs to be replaced. 4) The neighborhood is disgusting. I mean no exaggeration, there is trash EVERYWHERE, including in the parking lot of the hotel. And I mean a LOT of trash. Nobody will ever pick it up. Not being from Phoenix, that impression would make me want to never return. As a Hilton Honors member I'm pissed off. I would never return to this hotel for any reason.
