Tried checking in and although it wasn't their fault that Groupon had messed up my reservation, they didn't offer any assistance in helping me figure out how to fix it. Also, called corp Ramada and they were too busy trying to book future things for me instead of fixing my current problem!

Comfortable hotel keeps guests entertained with an onsite casino, an outdoor pool, and close proximity to Shreveport’s Red River District

Hotel at a Glance: Ramada Bossier City

The Ramada Bossier City gives visitors a taste of Las Vegas right in Louisiana. The hotel has a casino onsite, but that’s just one of the gambling options in Bossier City—Boomtown, Horseshoe, and Harrah’s Louisiana Downs are all within 5 miles of the hotel. And with the Pierre Bossier Mall just minutes away, there’s no shortage of ways to spend any casino winnings.

  • Enjoy free breakfast at the hotel’s onsite buffet.
  • Cool off at the outdoor pool—complete with barbecue grills and a children’s area.
  • Shop the Louisiana Boardwalk, the state’s largest outlet mall that’s just a 10-minute drive away.
  • Explore Shreveport: The city is only 5 miles from the hotel, and it boasts a lively riverfront entertainment district.

Shreveport, LA: “Sportsman’s Paradise” with Numerous Area Casinos

Shreveport is Louisana’s third-largest city, but it occupies a rather different space than neighbor cities Baton Rouge and New Orleans. Situated in the northern part of the state, it’s less swampy than the Gulf Coast, with many rivers and lakes popular with boaters and fishers. The 8,500-acre Cross Lake—just to the west of downtown Shreveport—has banks lined with moss-covered cypress trees, and it’s inhabited by alligators and waterfowl.

Also inhabiting the rivers around Shreveport are an abundance of casinos, the area’s main draw. Most are open 24 hours and feature various restaurants. In addition to hundreds of slot machines, Harrah’s Louisiana Downs in nearby Bossier City has one of the nation’s largest horse-racing tracks. Once you’ve bet and gambled your fill, you can head to the downtown area to tour beautiful mansions along Fairfield Avenue or sample the local cuisine. Try some boiled crawfish from a streetside vendor, or a famous strawberry pie from Strawn’s Eat Shop, a local institution.

DO NOT GO! I wish I could give a negative rating here. Just say “NO!” Trust me. Don’t do it. Aside from the rude staff and unsafe feeling, I booked a room with two beds for four people. I arrived after traveling by car for 12 hours on college tours with my children and was given a room with one bed. I went back to the front desk and was told “you get what you get.” I suppose booking and paying for a more expensive two bed room for FOUR people did not matter to them. The front desk woman said that no other rooms were available and proceeded to call other guests who had not checked in at 10:30pm to ask if they still wanted their rooms...showing that rooms were still available! I could tell by the conversations that they were not coming. Yet, she continued to tell us they were sold out. We had to leave with no refund, and, as a result, were not able to find a place to stay until 5am. I had been driving for about 24 hours at that point. I was able to see the hotel and room. Driving into the parking lot scared me...broken glass everywhere and lots of trucks. Then the lobby somewhat fools you. Once you get to the room, you realize you should have stuck with the “parking lot” feeling. Gross. I can’t imagine what the food would have been like. Really. Stay far far away from this one!

Casino trip Was a little apprehensive because of reviews, but was happily surprised and satisfied. Front office was clean, clerk efficient and friendly. Room was clean, bed comfortable. Absolutely no complaints. Would definitely recommend. I meant to take pictures of the room but forgot.

Definitely NOT a 3.5 star hotel! Maybe a 1 star at best. Worst hotel ever! Supposed to be a non smoking hotel. 1st room smelled terrible! Like 10 people smoked in there at the same time. Filthy carpet, filthy bathroom floor. Mold on the ceiling in the walkways with water dripping from it. Bathroom sink had hair in it. Front desk worker wad rude when asked to change rooms. 2nd room was a like better it smelled like bleach, but better than cigarettes. Only 2 towels. The bed was pretty comfortable and the sheets clean that I could tell. I did check the corner seams of the mattress for bed bugs and didn't see any. Kids running the hall screaming and banging on the walls around midnight. Scared to eat in the restaurant so can't say how that was. Looked online for another room but everything was booked. Good thing it was only 1 night. Couldn't post pictures from my phone for some reason. _
