San Diego, California: Electric Nightlife and Historical Attractions

San Diego's sunny, comfortably warm weather and 70 miles of coastline have long attracted out-of-towners, but the city's inland scene is no slouch, either. The Gaslamp Quarter is arguably the trendiest listing on the National Register of Historic Places. The area forms both the historic center of town and a hub of nightlife, with nearly 100 Victorian-era buildings occupied by high-end boutiques and gourmet restaurants.

A stroll through iconic Balboa Park takes you past 17 museums, as well as the world-famous San Diego Zoo. There's also the vibrant Spanish Village Art Center, a living gallery where local artists produce pottery and oil paintings. In Old Town, shops in Mission-style stucco buildings sell colorful woven baskets and maracas. Nearby stands the Whaley House Museum, dubbed one of the Most Terrifying Places in America by the Travel Channel. Ghosts of former residents are said to inhabit the rooms, which are filled with Victorian furniture and eerie dolls.

Horrible low budget hotel This is the worst hotel stay I have ever had. I have seen so many cockroaches I won’t walk barefoot and im afraid they will hitch a ride home in my suitcase. I’m keeping the lights on to keep them at bay. There are also little beetles everywhere. There is also a biker gang here and hardly any parking spots and bikes doing burnouts in the parking lot at all hours of the night. It’s like a bad movie. People wearing their gang colors. Women wearing not much. Massive amounts of weed everywhere. They are having a convention of sorts. I’m honestly afraid to leave my room. Someone should have told me this when I checked in. It is not family friendly. The pool had no towels nor did the front desk. The hot tub is freezing cold. There is a crazy homeless person who is allowed to sleep around the property. Another who sleeps at the pool. Hookers everywhere. My bed didn’t even have a blanket on it. Just two sheets. I was here because my daughter is in the navy and her ship has come home from Japan after three years. We have our entire family staying here. I wish I would have left the first night. It’s just getting worse. The line at the front desk is several people deep all weekend so I’m not going down there. I am not even exaggerating at all. Ridiculous.

Horrible I recently stayed at this hotel and, unfortunately, my experience was quite disappointing. Upon check-in, I noticed stained bedding and an unclean refrigerator. Throughout my stay, I was unable to hear any volume on the television. Despite multiple requests to the front desk for maintenance to address these issues, they were not resolved Additionally, I observed concerning safety issues, including the presence of individuals engaging in solicitation on the corner both during the day and at night. Based on these experiences, I cannot recommend this hotel and would advise others to consider alternative accommodations that prioritize cleanliness and safety.
