Pigeon Forge, Tennessee: Family-Friendly Attractions and Outdoor Activities in the Great Smoky Mountains

Though it’s secluded in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains, Pigeon Forge is home to some unique destinations, including Dollywood, a Titanic museum that looks just like the famed ocean liner from the outside, and an interactive children’s museum housed in an upside-down three-story building. But the top draw is, of course, Great Smoky Mountains National Park, located roughly 10 miles south of Pigeon Forge. You can hike along more than 800 miles of trails that lead past waterfalls and pioneer-era log cabins. One of the best places to catch a glowing sunset is Clingmans Dome, the park’s highest point of elevation at 6,600 feet.

In Pigeon Forge’s historical town center, a cluster of old-fashioned specialty shops and restaurants forms the Old Mill Square along the Little Pigeon River. Inside the mill, a pair of 4,600-pound granite stones has been grinding grain since the early 1800s. Voted the #1 Aquarium in the United States, the Ripley’s Aquarium is home to over 10,000 species of sea creatures. Boasting an underwater viewing tunnel longer than a football field with over dozens of 10 feet sharks, and sting rays; this 1.4-million-gallon sea water aquarium has over 32 different aquariums inside, and the best voted Penguin Exhibit in North America

Great experience but don't stay on the 2nd floor It was great experience. We loved the location and it's beauty. We were on the 2nd floor right above the check-in desk. So around midnight there were people downstairs just talking and having a good time. We couldn't get to sleep so we had to turn the TV on to drown out the noise. At 6am someone started caroling in the lobby just they could wake us up. But overall it was a good experience, we will not stay on the 2nd floor the next time.

Not good experience The motel was dirty , the floor in our room was very dirty , I dropped water and cleaned it up with a towel and it was dark all over the towel . We had no privacy , you have curtains, but they are sheer curtains and no other curtain to close for privacy . A lot of noise in the halls late at night with dogs barking and slamming doors .

Customer service without a smile. Checking In, the front desk was not diligent in looking at reservations even after I handed them my information. Customer service was poor. They told me I had 2 rooms when I did not. I booked through a third party but all they looked at was the first name of someone with the same name and tried to give me another persons rooms. Even after I told them the phone number was incorrect, they whited it out and told me it was just a place holder. They cut me off, left me at the counter while checking in other people refusing, they made a mistake until I said can I have keys??? Got a phone call as soon as I walked back into my room that night that another person with the same name walked in and they were shocked.... Really? If you listened to your customer, that would not have happened or even if you checked your records correctly. It was like that every interaction. Not a Hi, how are you.... Not an apology, nothing... Hotel was ehhh.. 2 stars at most. Even charge for cookies others hand out for free. Nice shower head though. Heated pool was cool.
