Pigeon Forge, Tennessee: Family-Friendly Attractions and Outdoor Activities in the Great Smoky Mountains

Though it’s secluded in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains, Pigeon Forge is home to some unique destinations, including Dollywood, a Titanic museum that looks just like the famed ocean liner from the outside, and an interactive children’s museum housed in an upside-down three-story building. But the top draw is, of course, Great Smoky Mountains National Park, located roughly 10 miles south of Pigeon Forge. You can hike along more than 800 miles of trails that lead past waterfalls and pioneer-era log cabins. One of the best places to catch a glowing sunset is Clingmans Dome, the park’s highest point of elevation at 6,600 feet.

In Pigeon Forge’s historical town center, a cluster of old-fashioned specialty shops and restaurants forms the Old Mill Square along the Little Pigeon River. Inside the mill, a pair of 4,600-pound granite stones has been grinding grain since the early 1800s. Voted the #1 Aquarium in the United States, the Ripley’s Aquarium is home to over 10,000 species of sea creatures. Boasting an underwater viewing tunnel longer than a football field with over dozens of 10 feet sharks, and sting rays; this 1.4-million-gallon sea water aquarium has over 32 different aquariums inside, and the best voted Penguin Exhibit in North America

This is a great hotel for amenities with the free movie and popcorn every night (2 movie showings), and the all day hot chocolate & coffee bar! There aren't many things that are free in Pigeon Forge. This is an older hotel that has been updated. The breakfast staff is amazing! The breakfast is typical of contential breakfast offerings.

Everything average BUT THE BREAKFAST AREA LADIES The ladies at the breakfast area are the best by far, Judy, Sedanya, Catarina, Edna and Cayla are nothing but great professionals, kind, friendly, simple the best, people who make the difference, unfortunately, the pillows in the bedrooms are extremely fluffy, the worst of the worst , no security enforcing the rules or checking the hallways, people running, screaming, etc , convenient location

Great for families and friends gatherings I found this hotel because Expedia had messed up my stay at another place. I couldn't have been more pleased. The lobby is beautiful and welcoming. The pool is open 24 hours as is the fire pit area, which is nice since so many places close that early. The room layout was great and it felt big compared to other rooms. The closet was out of the way and didn't detract from the room at all. Even though they are painting right now, it was very quiet in our room at night. The front desk staff was helpful and kind as well. Very nice stay!

Not awful but not impressive. Location is great. Room is not nice, view is not good from back. We got the view of a big dumpster from our 2 rooms. Small pool, ice cold pool. Ot enough pool towels clean or on the shelves for the amount of guests at the pool even after another guest went and asked staff to restock them. The breakfast was disappointing for sure. The room was not impressive but the shower was good. There was alot of sound in the hall from others throughout the night which made it hard to sleep through. Most of the staff was kind. The lobby area looked nice. Rooms need tlc to keep up w the appearance to appeal to guests.
