Federal Way, Washington: Coastal Town near Seattle’s Coffee Shops and Galleries

Like the neighboring cities of Tacoma and Seattle, Federal Way is set right along Puget Sound. The coastal town is rich in natural beauty, especially at Dash Point State Park, an expansive seaside camping area with more than 11 miles of hiking and biking trails. When the weather is nice, you’ll see families flying kites, launching canoes, and lounging on the beach. Don’t miss the Pacific Rim Bonsai Collection, a tropical conservatory that’s home to 60 bonsai trees from six Pacific Rim nations.

A half-hour drive north brings to you to downtown Seattle. One of that city’s most renowned attractions is Pike Place Market, which bustles with vendors selling fresh fruit, vegetables, fish, flowers, and more. While you’re here, grab a cup of java at the original Starbucks, which has been operating here since 1971.

Air show This hotel is run down, not what I expected from a Red Lion. Don’t get a room on the road side you won’t get any sleep. The heater made a terrible sound all night. The only thing that was good was the beds are comfy,

Online pictures are misleading! Booked through priceline express deals, which is normally really awesome and has placed us in some good locations at great prices. The pictures online make it look better than local competitor hotels! This establishment is dated, loud, not the cleanest and next to loud, busy roadway. You must go outside a short distance to access pool area from all rooms, so the hallways are damp and you get cold making the trek to and from the room and pool. Multiple people yelling about needing wet floor signs in the hallways. The room: bedside lamps didn't work, the room smelled strongly of cigarettes and was very small. Black mold present in the windows, blood splatters on the ceiling and very humid. Doors slamming 24/7, people talking loudly, vacuums seemingly running constantly although the place is NOT clean. I suppose the right room might be ok for a short family stay but definitely a terrible place for couples or anyone seeking any kind of peace and quiet. Actually, we would not even take our children here. I showed the blood splatter picture to the front desk; they thanked me for making them aware and that was it. One of the worst hotel/motel experiences we have had.

nice hotel nice hotel, with a good pool. Seemed like a lot going on in the parking lot like maybe some less than savory things but you didn't notice once you got into the hotels. Rooms were average size and the kids loved the pool and the slides. Over all a good experience.
