Five-Star Las Vegas Casino Resort

From Las Vegas, it’s a short drive to the desert, where joshua trees and rocky peaks etch a jagged line across the sky and the distantly glowing Strip looks like a neon mirage. Red Rock Casino Resort Spa occupies 70 acres of this starkly beautiful landscape. Though situated about 25 minutes from the heart of Vegas, the resort has all of the extravagant offerings Sin City is known for. In addition to the casino and resort, there are nearly a dozen dining options, a bowling center, an IMAX movie theater, and a venue for live music.

Nineteen cabanas surround the pool area, which features a swim-up gaming station and a poolside bar serving cocktails and burgers. Some of this getaway’s options include a complimentary $25 Red Rock beach towel and $30 poolside dining credit with two reserved lounge chairs (Monday–Friday) once per stay. Indoors, the casino is equipped with more than 3,000 slot machines and video-poker games, as well as tables for blackjack and roulette. Unwind with a massage or body treatment at the spa.

The resort’s restaurants cook up everything from burgers to haute cuisine. One of the eateries, T-Bones Chophouse, was voted best steak house in Las Vegas in 2011. Mercadito, another onsite eatery, is a highly regarded Mexican restaurant.

Beyond the Las Vegas Strip: Old Vegas, Red Rock Canyon, and the Hoover Dam

It can feel like the entire city of Las Vegas revolves around the Strip if you never venture beyond that neon-lit corridor. But there’s plenty to see and do once you step off Las Vegas Boulevard. You can find a taste of Old Vegas on Fremont Street, where vintage signs and showgirls crowned with headdresses recall the days of Sinatra and Martin. Beginning at dusk, a canopy of more than 12 million LED lights erupts in a psychedelic light-and-music show every hour. For an aerial view, zoom down the center of Fremont Street on a zipline.

Nature puts on its own show at Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, a landscape of fiery-red sandstone formations and limestone cliffs just 17 miles outside the city. Motor down the 13-mile scenic drive or ditch the car and strike out on any of more than 20 hiking trails that course through the region’s otherworldly topography.

Hoover Dam, a marvel of modern engineering, lies just 35 miles away, near the Nevada–Arizona border. Take the 30-minute power-plant tour or the 60-minute dam tour, which takes visitors inside the dam’s narrow passageways. You can actually kayak down the Colorado River from the base of the dam—just be sure to arrive early, as only 30 permits are issued per day.

Disappointed. The property and amenities are great! The location is wonderful as it's close to Summerlin, shopping, the freeway. We were disappointed with the response of the cleaning staff. We accidentally left the DND light on and when we returned to our room and saw our mistake, we called and asked that the room be cleaned; the cleaning never happened. We called a 2nd time and were told that the supervisor would be calling us. The supervisor did call and told us that we had left the DND on and we said we knew that but it had now been off for several hours and we called the ask for towels, cleaning, etc. We were finally asked if there was something they could provide to make up for the situation. Since it was evening, we suggested that perhaps something the next day for breakfast, that never happened. The room has 3 phones in it and I seriously hated touching them, they were filthy!! I also realized, that I left a cell phone, book & sunglasses in the night stand. My fault and something I've never done before. I called the resort a few hours after checking out and was told that Lost & Found does not get reported until about 11 p.m. and it would be best to call the next day. I called the next day and was told nothing was found. The lady I spoke with was very nice and said the room was again occupied and they would check and hopefully the new occupants are honest. This tells me that the cleaning staff did not open the drawer to the night stand to check it, which one would think all drawers, closets, etc. would be checked in-between occupants or....if they did....well I guess I'll never see those items again.

Solo is fun filled Unlike another review posted for July 2024, my stay was excellent! Room on 17th floor was clean; everything worked (including air conditioning on 112 degree days); and staff delightful. But I want the message of this review to be: it's fun to spend a week at RR solo. Be open to chatting with staff, other guests, new friends you make. That's what I did as I swam, bowled (meeting a wonderful couple from the UK), ate some of the most wonderful meals at Lucky Penny (yea to Terry, Manny, Benji), Yard House (incredible margarita); and Leoncito (chicken tinga tacos a must). A bit of gaming paid for most of my trip. Don't forget the Farmer's Market (walkable). Got a car? No visit (I've been 6 times to RR) is complete without the incredible views/hikes at the nearby Canyon (my tip-- visit both in the morning and then again as the sun is setting). Stop at Blue Diamond park about sunset and meet the wild burros. Then back to RR for an adult beverage. I got the same service as a solo that the couples around me got. Chat, explore, stay.

If you have germ issues or need really nice amenities and cleanliness, don’t stay here Very dirty, very disappointing. The amenities are needing completely sterilized. Sink and drains are clogged up. I even ordered room service and they brought the completely wrong food. I called the front desk and they told me that “housekeeping is lacking right now@ and then did nothing for me. But they did offer to move me tomorrow if they have an open room, which is fair. This is just the phone. I tried to take a video of the whole room, but it wouldn’t let me upload it.
