Ontario, California: LA Suburb near Outlet Shopping and Downhill Skiing at Mount Baldy

Ontario, California, is a suburban oasis about 40 miles east of busy downtown LA. The city is home to Southern California’s largest outlet shopping mall, Ontario Mills, where you can find hundreds of factory-outlet stores, an improv comedy club, and an AMC theater. It’s also home to Graber Olive House, founded in 1894—Ontario’s oldest existing olive grove. The company still grows, cures, and cans their famous olives, and you can tour the facility all year long.

In the winter, you can ski, snowboard, and tube at the Mount Baldy ski area. Angeles National Forest is less than an hour’s drive from Ontario. The forest spans more than 500 miles of hiking, horseback-riding, and moonwalking trails, as well as stocked fishing areas (visitors 16 or older must have a fishing license).

Disgusting and Disappointed If I could give negative stars I would. I rented a penthouse suite and to start off no one was at the front desk ready to check people in. I didn't want to let that judge my stay so I let it go. Then I get keys to my room and as I'm walking from my car to the room I see ROACHES in the middle of the day. Since I had my elderly parents with me staying somewhere else would have really put them in a bad position as they just spent 7 hours traveling. I then open the room and IMMEDIATELY see the dusty ceiling fan. The carpet was so gross even my going blind mom didn't want to walk around without her socks on. The dishes in the "suite" if that's what you want to call it were dirty like someone just wiped them to "look clean." Now to the evening, we get settled in and the beds look clean. I was hoping that would be the one clean thing but no, I immediately breathe in dust as I'm moving the pillows to get situated. My mom's night table had a lamp on it with no outlet behind the night table for the lamp to work! I can't even believe Marriott would put their name on a hotel like this. I waited for a satisfaction survey and never got one so I will leave my experience here. I am assuming they didn’t want to send a survey because they know their hotel is not what anyone would call a MARRIOTT experience. As a gold member this is very disappointing. Then lastly, the quoted charge for my stay was 10 dollars more than what they "quoted" me after the parking fee so really the whole thing is a scam. The hotel advertises $17 parking daily but they tax you and it’s really $18 and some change which still doesn’t explain the extra charges.

Disgusting This place was disgusting. Trash was left in piles everywhere throughout the property. Vagrants were wandering the property going through the dumpsters. The door to our room looked as if it had been kicked in at some point. The carpeting left my 1 year old son’s feet black by the end of the night. There was dirt or sand all over the kitchen floor, as well as in the bed. The upholstery on the sofa and chairs was literally falling off. And to top it off, in the morning our son found a used marijuana joint on the floor. We think we took it before he could’ve put it in his mouth, but with toddlers, who knows. And in this day and age, what it could’ve been laced with. This property is filthy, and disgusting.

Not the greatest experience This place is not what you expect. It is like little cottages. rooms are dark and they were always running out of towels. the service was decent. would not stay here again.
