Hotel at a Glance: Resorts Casino Hotel

Atlantic City is brimming with casinos and hotels, but Resorts Casino Hotel is one for the history books: it was Atlantic City’s first casino hotel and the country’s first legal casino outside of Las Vegas. Towering above the Atlantic Ocean and Atlantic City’s famed boardwalk, the hotel dazzles visitors looking to enjoy fine dining and world-class entertainment. Its 80,000-square-foot-casino is open around the clock, with thousands of slots and more than 10 styles of table games where you can try your luck.

  • So much space: The hotel’s stylish guest rooms include WiFi access, flat-screen TVs, and mini-fridges.
  • Grab a beachside cocktail at the resort’s Landshark Bar & Grill, the only restaurant on the sand side of the Atlantic City boardwalk that’s open all year.
  • Go swimming in the indoor-outdoor pool, open year-round.
  • Find your shaker of salt at Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville, which comprises several restaurants, themed gaming areas, bars, and retail shops.

Atlantic City, New Jersey: Casinos and Carnival Rides Lining Historical Beachside Boardwalk

No trip to Atlantic City is complete without a stroll along its signature boardwalk, which stretches for 6 miles along New Jersey’s eastern coast. Originally built in 1870 to keep sand out of hotel lobbies, the boardwalk grew in popularity as a place where you could drink and gamble during Prohibition without much trouble from the police, as depicted in HBO’s Boardwalk Empire. The boardwalk is still popular for its casinos, but it’s family-friendly, too; visitors are just as inclined to sit at the beach or stop at one of the many carnival rides.

On the boardwalk, it’s worth it to check out the Absecon Lighthouse, which is more than 150 years old. It’s possible to climb its 228 steps to the top, which features sweeping views of the city skyline and the sea.

Run, run to another hotel. What a dump. From the outside entrance to the room this place is terrible. We were going to a concert next door and we should have just paid the extra money for a room next door. The couch had who-knows-what stains on it. The furniture and lights looked like they came out of a salvage shop. I've attached a photo of something the cleaning staff left in the corner of our room.

Great stay Stayed 3 nights - loved the location right on boardwalk and beach, loved the boo bar and food court in hotel. Really spacious room ocean tower non smoking room but bed linen still smelt of smoke. Quite dated property but we liked our stay and the vibe overall and the value for money. We were looking at staying at Borgata off boardwalk but we’re glad we didn’t as too far out .

DO NOT STAY HERE UNLESS YOU LIKE CHOKING ON SMOKE AND ICE COLD SHOWERS THAT DON'T TURN OFF I chose this location because we were seeing a show at the Hard Rock on a Friday night and did not want to drive the 2 hours home afterwards. The Hard Rock was sold out that evening and when I learned we could access the hotel via a covered walkway I thought this was the perfect spot to stay for our date night getaway. I booked early (more than 14 days in advance and paid for the non-refundable option) to get the "better rate" of $300 for a Premier King in the Rendezvous tower. The mixed reviews gave me pause but I decided to take a chance and book the room for the convenience factor of being next to the Hard Rock. BIG MISTAKE. We self parked right outside of the entrance and upon walking into the lobby we were literally choking on the amount of cigarette smoke in the air, but we figured it's AC and this is what the casinos can be like so we'll just deal with it, besides we booked a non-smoking room so this is just an inconvenience when being in the lobby/casino section. WRONG! OUR NON-SMOKING ROOM SMELLED LIKE SMOKE (as did the hallways outside of our room on the 4th floor.) We could smell the smoke in our room all night which is unacceptable. We noticed the smell of smoke at the Hard Rock wasn't nearly as strong despite having more people on the floor (perhaps they have a better air filter system in place?) After we returned to our room from the show (around 11:30 pm) I tried to shower. There was ABSOLUTELY NO HOT WATER. I was able to quickly take an ice cold shower but then THE WATER WOULDN'T TURN OFF. I mean no matter which way I turned the shower handle, the water wouldn't turn off (nor warm up.) We tried calling both the front desk and guest services, aware of the fact that we may have to pack up and move our room at what is now midnight, but NO ONE ANSWERED, not even a voice mail system! I then went to use the bathroom sink (which had extremely hot water) BUT THE SINK WOULDN'T GO DOWN! We resorted to going to bed with the SHOWER RUNNING ALL NIGHT and THE SMELL OF SMOKE CHOKING US IN OUR NON-SMOKING ROOM. Early the next morning we checked out and told the front desk about our issues, she just said, sorry for your inconvenience and gave us our bill. DISGUSTING AND HORRIBLE, WILL NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN!
