Hotel at a Glance: Resorts Casino Hotel

Nestled proudly on Atlantic City’s storied Boardwalk, Resorts Casino Hotel carries the weight of history with flair. Opened in 1904 as the elegant Chalfonte-Haddon Hall and transformed in 1978 into the very first American casino beyond Nevada, this venerable resort blends legacy with luxury. Guests step into a world where echoes of the Roaring Twenties mingle with modern sophistication—graced by Art Deco refinement, an expansive gaming floor, illustrious dining venues like Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville and LandShark Bar & Grill, and a vibrant spirit that honors its pioneering past.

At Resorts today, every stay resonates with the excitement of Atlantic City's golden age. The hotel boasts spacious towers, including the 27-story Rendezvous Tower added in 2004, and the original Ocean Tower, which houses the casino, spa, pool, theaters, shopping, and more. Each visit is a tribute to resilience, evolution, and Atlantic City’s enduring capacity for reinvention.

Great stay Stayed 3 nights - loved the location right on boardwalk and beach, loved the boo bar and food court in hotel. Really spacious room ocean tower non smoking room but bed linen still smelt of smoke. Quite dated property but we liked our stay and the vibe overall and the value for money. We were looking at staying at Borgata off boardwalk but we’re glad we didn’t as too far out .

DO NOT STAY HERE UNLESS YOU LIKE CHOKING ON SMOKE AND ICE COLD SHOWERS THAT DON'T TURN OFF I chose this location because we were seeing a show at the Hard Rock on a Friday night and did not want to drive the 2 hours home afterwards. The Hard Rock was sold out that evening and when I learned we could access the hotel via a covered walkway I thought this was the perfect spot to stay for our date night getaway. I booked early (more than 14 days in advance and paid for the non-refundable option) to get the "better rate" of $300 for a Premier King in the Rendezvous tower. The mixed reviews gave me pause but I decided to take a chance and book the room for the convenience factor of being next to the Hard Rock. BIG MISTAKE. We self parked right outside of the entrance and upon walking into the lobby we were literally choking on the amount of cigarette smoke in the air, but we figured it's AC and this is what the casinos can be like so we'll just deal with it, besides we booked a non-smoking room so this is just an inconvenience when being in the lobby/casino section. WRONG! OUR NON-SMOKING ROOM SMELLED LIKE SMOKE (as did the hallways outside of our room on the 4th floor.) We could smell the smoke in our room all night which is unacceptable. We noticed the smell of smoke at the Hard Rock wasn't nearly as strong despite having more people on the floor (perhaps they have a better air filter system in place?) After we returned to our room from the show (around 11:30 pm) I tried to shower. There was ABSOLUTELY NO HOT WATER. I was able to quickly take an ice cold shower but then THE WATER WOULDN'T TURN OFF. I mean no matter which way I turned the shower handle, the water wouldn't turn off (nor warm up.) We tried calling both the front desk and guest services, aware of the fact that we may have to pack up and move our room at what is now midnight, but NO ONE ANSWERED, not even a voice mail system! I then went to use the bathroom sink (which had extremely hot water) BUT THE SINK WOULDN'T GO DOWN! We resorted to going to bed with the SHOWER RUNNING ALL NIGHT and THE SMELL OF SMOKE CHOKING US IN OUR NON-SMOKING ROOM. Early the next morning we checked out and told the front desk about our issues, she just said, sorry for your inconvenience and gave us our bill. DISGUSTING AND HORRIBLE, WILL NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN!

FirstTimers 2 Atlantic City My husband and I stayed there September 8-11 and it was better than expected. We didn’t even have enough time to go through everything, there was so much to do. I recommend Atlantic City to everyone, the ocean was unbelievable. And don’t forget to go to the restaurant Breadsticks, Saba, was our cashier, she was really amazing and great to chat with. Maria or Marie was our waitress and I recommended her to all who dines. I give Resorts 5 stars.
