Hotel at a Glance: Royal Lahaina Resort & Bungalows

Nestled along the pristine shores of Kā‘anapali Beach, the Royal Lahaina Resort & Bungalows stands as a testament to Maui's rich heritage and natural splendor. As one of the original resorts in this renowned area, it has gracefully preserved the island's traditions while seamlessly integrating modern luxury. Guests are welcomed into a realm where the echoes of Hawaiian royalty resonate, offering an experience that is both timeless and authentically local.

The resort's accommodations are thoughtfully designed to harmonize with the surrounding tropical landscape. From the iconic scalloped balconies of the Lahaina Kai Tower to the secluded beachside bungalows, each space provides a sanctuary of comfort and elegance. The lush gardens, expansive ocean vistas, and direct access to one of Maui’s most celebrated beaches invite guests to immerse themselves in the island's beauty, fostering moments of connection and rejuvenation.

Lahaina, HI: Legacy of the Pacific Kingdom

Once the royal capital of the Hawaiian Kingdom, Lahaina stands as a living testament to Hawaii’s storied past and maritime heritage. This historic town on the island of Maui was once the seat of power for King Kamehameha I and a thriving center for 19th-century whaling, attracting sailors from around the world. Strolling along Front Street, one encounters remnants of its regal lineage and missionary influences—from the preserved Lahaina Banyan Court, whose massive roots span nearly an acre, to the old Lahaina Courthouse and Baldwin Home Museum. Lahaina's deep connection to native Hawaiian culture and Western exploration is inscribed in every coral-stone wall, harbor jetty, and century-old chapel.

Beyond its historical gravitas, Lahaina radiates the charm of a coastal haven with its art galleries, eateries, and breathtaking sunsets over the Pacific. Once a hub of international commerce, it now serves as a portal to Maui’s natural splendor and island spirit, welcoming travelers seeking both reflection and adventure. The town's proximity to marine sanctuaries, surf breaks, and neighboring islands like Lanai and Molokai adds to its enduring allure. Though recent events have tested its resilience, the soul of Lahaina endures—rooted in its proud past and steadfast in its promise of renewal.

Amazing stay for our babymoon Wow! What an amazing stay. My husband and I celebrated our babymoon and decided to stay at the royal lahaina.. everything about this property was amazing! Views were incredible, location was perfect, room was very clean, but the best part was the service and hospitality. From the bellmen to the front desk, everyone was so friendly and really cared to make our experience enjoyable. Special shoutout to Gina the Manager she was simply fantastic. She made our stay memorable. We will definitely be back sometime soon as a family of 3! 10/10 experience

Fantastic Resort! *Check-in/ Room: First, Stacey was excellent! She was so friendly and caring. She has a great sense of humor and made checking in easy. Second, I wanted to check in early and made an upgrade ( for about 30 a night+ tax) to the deluxe ocean view on the 11th floor, instead of the original partial ocean view. Let me just say, I was actually blown away by the view!!! *Cons: As some mentioned, there is a smell. But opening the lanai door cleared up a lot of the issue. The smell must be coming from the AC. It was a bit drippy and a hint of mold appearing which I didn’t notice until my 3rd night. I just kept it off most of the time tbh. I’d take off a half star for that if I could. I wasn’t going to give up that room and that view for anything though! Minor inconvenience, I had to ask the front desk for coffee for the morning because I was going on a tour at 5:55am the next day, they only give you 2 regular coffee pods at a time, and the shops wouldn’t be open. I thought they would just give them then or at least sometime that day. They wrote it on a list they never appeared despite assuring me I would get 4 more. House keeping just put 2 more when they did there standard, every other day service another day. It was too late by then anyways. I was concerned since I’m a very dedicated coffee drinker in the morning and evenings so I bought my own Keurig pods to use the rest of the trip. Another inconvenience is their ATM! Just a heads up, it charges you a $4.95 initially and then the hotel itself charges you another $2.50 when it posts to your account . I just think that probably should’ve been more upfront. *Restaurant: Lahaina Noon was pretty good. I did the breakfast buffet one day but I should have done something from the menu instead since it cost quite a bit and nothing too spectacular. But if it’s part of your package then it’s better than most other hotel included breakfasts. Lunch was much better! Blackened Mahi Mahi tacos and the ahi dip are superb! Happy hour is a plus. Royal Scoops was a nice place to pick up a quick bite as well or a coffee. Experiences: I did yoga one morning of the 6 night stay. I’ll just say, it is not exactly a beginners class. I love that it is included and I was able to try it. Beach was stunning, didn’t end up doing any rentals, lots of lounge chairs around and could find a spot with an umbrella anytime I needed it. Pool is cold but nice to put your feet in. Branches was so dreamy. I would stop by at night and listen to the music for a bit on one of the comfy chairs. Branches is a very nice touch to resort. I also utilized the trolly and beach walk quite a bit. I don’t drive and didn’t have a car while there. *Checkout: Checkout was a little weird tbh, I checked out in person at 9:15 because I had a flight. I even had them print out the expenses because the holds seemed weird on my account but in the end everything added up just fine. No fault of theirs just bank stuff. The weird part is get a call at 11:30 or so as I’m boarding my plane asking if I’m checking out today. I let them know that I already did and was already on my way home. Not sure what the disconnect was there. But it didn’t have an effect on anything in the end. Overall, it’s a great hotel! Needs a little maintenance in the tower here and there but I enjoyed my stay as a solo traveler. It was definitely everything I hoped it to be. I cannot wait to come back with my spouse!!

Pleasant, peaceful and relaxing It's right there on the beach with a huge coast. Two pools to relax at that they will bring drinks to. We had the bungalows, very nice and separate from the rest of the resort. A friend recommended this to us and we thanked him greatly. Great overall. And the chickens are funny.
