As one of the original resorts in this renowned area, it has gracefully preserved the island's traditions while seamlessly integrating modern luxury. Guests are welcomed into a realm where the echoes of Hawaiian royalty resonate, offering an experience that is both timeless and authentically local.

The resort's accommodations are thoughtfully designed to harmonize with the surrounding tropical landscape. From the iconic scalloped balconies of the Lahaina Kai Tower to the secluded beachside bungalows, each space provides a sanctuary of comfort and elegance. The lush gardens, expansive ocean vistas, and direct access to one of Maui’s most celebrated beaches invite guests to immerse themselves in the island's beauty, fostering moments of connection and rejuvenation.

Lahaina, HI: Legacy of the Pacific Kingdom

Once the royal capital of the Hawaiian Kingdom, Lahaina stands as a living testament to Hawaii’s storied past and maritime heritage. This historic town on the island of Maui was once the seat of power for King Kamehameha I and a thriving center for 19th-century whaling, attracting sailors from around the world. Strolling along Front Street, one encounters remnants of its regal lineage and missionary influences—from the preserved Lahaina Banyan Court, whose massive roots span nearly an acre, to the old Lahaina Courthouse and Baldwin Home Museum. Lahaina's deep connection to native Hawaiian culture and Western exploration is inscribed in every coral-stone wall, harbor jetty, and century-old chapel.

Beyond its historical gravitas, Lahaina radiates the charm of a coastal haven with its art galleries, eateries, and breathtaking sunsets over the Pacific. Once a hub of international commerce, it now serves as a portal to Maui’s natural splendor and island spirit, welcoming travelers seeking both reflection and adventure. The town's proximity to marine sanctuaries, surf breaks, and neighboring islands like Lanai and Molokai adds to its enduring allure. Though recent events have tested its resilience, the soul of Lahaina endures—rooted in its proud past and steadfast in its promise of renewal.

My Experience at the Royal Lahaina Resort & Bungalows The Resort is to old to charge the same prices as better resorts. Considering the amount we spent per night I expect everything to be clean in the room(bungalow in this case) but it wasn't. The room had dirty carpet, Dirty AC Filter, Dirty Windows and Ants in the bath, Kitchen & Living Room. The Staff cleaned every thing mention but for that kind of money most of those things should have been done before we got the room. Waiting around for the staff to clean and fight the ants took time out of our vacation. This place isn't that bad they just need to do more to provide a better experience or charge less. 3 out of 5 from my family.

Amazing value for having a beautiful beach literally steps from the property We really loved staying at the Royal Lahaina for a week in early June. The positives: The weather was fantastic - it never rained once. The beach right outside the hotel is beyond amazing and is literally steps from the hotel and pool area, which is not the case for many other hotels in Maui. It is pristine, calm, and private/quiet. We went to the southern part of Kaanapali a few times for dinner and excursions (it's a 15 minutes walk on a beachfront walking path from the Royal Lahaina) and we are very happy we stayed at the Royal Lahaina. The area the hotel is is much quieter, more peaceful, and less touristy, but you have Whaler's Village with all the excursions and restaurants at your fingertips. The room was spacious and clean, and we had a gorgeous oceanfront room and a balcony. The staff was all very nice and accommodating; your room is turned down every other day. There is a store on site that sells snacks, drinks, beach gear, and souvenirs. There is valet parking for $45/day and self-parking for $40/day; the self-parking lot is large and a short walk to the hotel entrance. There are two pools with loungers and plenty of umbrellas. It wasn't too hard to find a spot - there were usually empty loungers. It never felt too crowded. On site there is a restaurant serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner; a beach bar serving lunch/snacks, and an ice cream parlor with coffee, breakfast, lunch, and dessert, which was very convenient. Our room rate came with the breakfast buffet daily, which had a lot of options, as well as free tickets to the Myths of Maui Luau on the property. The towels are nice and plush. The resort fee ($40/day) comes with sunscreen available at the beach activities hut by the pool. You can rent paddle boards and snorkeling gear for the day. There are lawn games and lots of comfortable furniture spread out on the property so there are lots of places to hang out. The "Branches" area of the hotel has free live music nightly, and serves drinks and snacks for purchase. The negatives: There are no free loungers on the beach; you either need to bring your own or rent for $100 for two chairs and an umbrella (most of the other hotels in the area seemed to have a similar practice, which does mean the beach is less crowded and there is more room to walk, which is nice). The on-site restaurant is very overpriced (but that's just standard Maui). Finally, the pool areas were often very dirty in the morning from the evening before -- the chairs had bird poop, the tables were dirty, and there were food and drinks left out. That was our biggest gripe, which is an easy fix and would go a long way. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and thought it was excellent value. The beach and the accessibility to it is the gem of this place.
