Hotel at a Glance: Royal Lahaina Resort & Bungalows

Nestled along the pristine shores of Kā‘anapali Beach, the Royal Lahaina Resort & Bungalows stands as a testament to Maui's rich heritage and natural splendor. As one of the original resorts in this renowned area, it has gracefully preserved the island's traditions while seamlessly integrating modern luxury. Guests are welcomed into a realm where the echoes of Hawaiian royalty resonate, offering an experience that is both timeless and authentically local.

The resort's accommodations are thoughtfully designed to harmonize with the surrounding tropical landscape. From the iconic scalloped balconies of the Lahaina Kai Tower to the secluded beachside bungalows, each space provides a sanctuary of comfort and elegance. The lush gardens, expansive ocean vistas, and direct access to one of Maui’s most celebrated beaches invite guests to immerse themselves in the island's beauty, fostering moments of connection and rejuvenation.

Lahaina, HI: Legacy of the Pacific Kingdom

Once the royal capital of the Hawaiian Kingdom, Lahaina stands as a living testament to Hawaii’s storied past and maritime heritage. This historic town on the island of Maui was once the seat of power for King Kamehameha I and a thriving center for 19th-century whaling, attracting sailors from around the world. Strolling along Front Street, one encounters remnants of its regal lineage and missionary influences—from the preserved Lahaina Banyan Court, whose massive roots span nearly an acre, to the old Lahaina Courthouse and Baldwin Home Museum. Lahaina's deep connection to native Hawaiian culture and Western exploration is inscribed in every coral-stone wall, harbor jetty, and century-old chapel.

Beyond its historical gravitas, Lahaina radiates the charm of a coastal haven with its art galleries, eateries, and breathtaking sunsets over the Pacific. Once a hub of international commerce, it now serves as a portal to Maui’s natural splendor and island spirit, welcoming travelers seeking both reflection and adventure. The town's proximity to marine sanctuaries, surf breaks, and neighboring islands like Lanai and Molokai adds to its enduring allure. Though recent events have tested its resilience, the soul of Lahaina endures—rooted in its proud past and steadfast in its promise of renewal.

Royal Lahaina Experience Staff was not the friendliest and pool was subpar. The beach was the best part of this trip so if you don’t care about the pool, this is by far the best part of the resort. The restaurant wasn’t great and very expensive. I did enjoy staying in the bungalows, they’re new and very clean. Apart from that I wouldn’t recommend staying here if you care about having a nice pool and friendly staff. Also, when I booked my rooms I had picked the breakfast and when I went to the restaurant they said that my reservation didn’t include breakfast even though I had paid for that option.

Quiet Beach Compared to ones near Whalers Village We were assigned Room 8035 , and what a View !.....Oceanfront suite with two Balconies (one is located Ocean Front with excellent views of the Sunset and the other on the side of with a view of Lanai Island....The furniture was a bit outdated but everything was in good working order and the suite was very clean....As for the beach, well just look at the photos.....mere two minute walk from your Room!!!!......Stacy at the front desk upsold us from an Oceanfront room to an Oceanfront suite for 120 extra dollars per night and allowed us to go to the room immediately instead of waiting til 4pm....If you can get a good deal....jump on it....previously, we never spent a lot of time in our room but on this trip, we looked forward to watching the sunset and sipping some cocktails every evening and looking at the peaceful less crowded beach than the ones near Whalers Beach....This is definitely very, very quiet in comparison to Outrigger, Westin, Sheraton, (less people and noise).......The hotel is a 15-20 min walk to whalers village with excellent views of the golf course and ocean.....I am 62 and the walk was no issue even at 3pm on a summer day....You can also take a free trolley that runs every 30 mins from the hotel to Whalers Village....picks you up at the hotel and drop you off at whalers village ( takes about 15 mins).... Not alot of amenities at this hotel....but we didnt come for the pools....We came for the scenery and peaceful beautiful beach....I also recommend going to the Luau at the hotel....also, a mere 2 min walk from the room, Great Show (one of the longest running ones one the island)....We shall Return!!!!!

Beautiful hotel They have a friendly staff and quite the view of M’olokai. Very convenient to shopping and exploring. The trolley between resorts is a plus as well. It was our second stay at this resort and hopefully we will continue to be able to visit.
