Beyond the Las Vegas Strip: Old Vegas and Red Rock Canyon

It can feel like the entire city of Las Vegas revolves around the Strip if you never venture beyond that neon-lit corridor. But there’s plenty to see and do once you step off Las Vegas Boulevard. You can find a taste of Old Vegas on Fremont Street, where vintage signs and showgirls crowned with headdresses recall the days of Sinatra and Martin. Beginning at dusk, a canopy of more than 12 million LED lights erupts in a psychedelic light-and-music show every hour. For an aerial view, zoom down the center of Fremont Street on a zipline.

Nature puts on its own show at Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, a landscape of fiery-red sandstone formations and limestone cliffs just 17 miles outside the city. Motor down the 13-mile scenic drive or ditch the car and strike out on any of more than 20 hiking trails that course through the region’s otherworldly topography.

Stay Elsewhere We arrived a few hours prior to checkin and paid the fee to checkin early. The front desk associate was kind and helpful. We set our stuff down and went to get food. When we came back 30 min later, our room reeked of weed. We reported it to the front desk and they quickly sent an ozone machine up while we were in the room. We did not know and no one let us know that ozone gas was toxic. When I did a google search about the machine it said it was toxic and we left the room. Now on our first night we both have pounding headaches, brain fog, scratchy throats, and a cough. I wish they would have told us it was it was toxic. We are only here for 2 nights and now one of them is gone.

Very nice, will definitely return We stayed at the Sahara for 4 nights in May, and we decided to upgrade to the Alexandra tower when we checked in, for a few extra dollars. This was unfortunately not offered for free. The room was large and very clean. We had a fridge that we could put our own water in. The bed was very comfy. The hotel itself was really nice, and although you are at the north end of the strip, we actually preferred it. You can take the monorail, or a taxi will cost you around $10. The staff are all very friendly, especially at the tables. We will return here on our next visit to Vegas. Oh, also, there is free parking at the Sahara

Terrible Worse hotel and casino in Vegas. Please do not take your family. Spent all time at different. Such a waste. Management was rude. The casino it self is a huge disappointment. If you stay here, definitely keep your money for the nicer casinos. Take the monorail. At least if you lose your money, you do it in a classier place.
