Hotel at a Glance: Sanctuary Hotel New York

Broadway's singing starlets, Fifth Avenue's shops, and Times Square's iconic sights all lie within walking distance of the 4-star Sanctuary Hotel New York. Many guests choose to stay away from all of that, instead spending an evening more than nine stories up at Haven Rooftop, the hotel's cocktail lounge and restaurant. Here, cabanas, plush couches, and custom-built tables made from reclaimed cedar sit amid views of Midtown Manhattan. But sipping handcrafted cocktails or eating Chef Madison Belem's French-inspired cuisine are only a couple of ways to pass your stay.

  • Additional onsite dining: Chandeliers hang over Tender Restaurant and Lounge, known for its premium steak, sushi, and wine.
  • Where you'll stay: Guest rooms feature flat-screen HDTVs and spa-inspired bathrooms.
  • Chat with the staff, who include S.T.A.R. Experience Managers tasked to act as personal shoppers, plan fun activities, or cater to pretty much any other guest request.
  • Get sweaty with an onsite fitness center.
  • Walking distance to famous attractions such as Rockefeller Center and St. Patrick's Cathedral

Times Square, Manhattan: Flashy Neon Lights and World-Class Culture

Times Square is at the intersection of Broadway and Seventh Avenue in Midtown Manhattan. The famous address—affectionately known as “the Crossroads of the World”—is home to hypnotizing billboards, giant wraparound news tickers, and the neon lights of Broadway. Beyond the glitz and gimmicks, there are a number of cultural offerings in the area, ranging from museums to Michelin-rated restaurants. Buildings of historical and architectural interest include the Paramount Building and One Times Square, site of the annual New Year's Eve ball drop.

Nearby, the Museum of Modern Art houses a trove of masterpieces including Vincent van Gogh's The Starry Night, Claude Monet's Water Lilies paintings, and Andy Warhol's Campbell's Soup Cans. Save time for a stroll through the museum's outdoor sculpture garden, where installations are clustered around sparkling reflecting pools. About a mile north of Times Square, the David H. Koch Theater is home to one of the world’s foremost dance companies—the New York City Ballet, which stages contemporary works as well as classics like Swan Lake and The Nutcracker.

I'm a local who came to this establishment to celebrate my 1yr anniversary. Though I got the check in date mixed up- end up spending two nights instead of one. The staff was calming and professional. Love the customer service from check-in to check -out. Just say I'm very pleased and will book this establishment again.

Quiet, cool (it was hot outside) boutique hotel with great lobby. Great customer service, wonderful room with comfortable bed and great black out curtains. In the middle of everything. Came with continental breakfast. We ate dinner in sushi restaurant on rooftop which was great.

What a wonderful stay at The Sanctuary Hotel!! The location is so close to the theatre district and Times Square. The room was clean and comfortable. Our stay included a continental breakfast. The food and drinks at The Haven(rooftop restaurant and bar), were great! Lastly, I can’t say enough about how nice and accommodating every staff member we met was. I highly recommend staying there!

Wonderful stay at this hotel I would like to mention how wonderful the staff was at the hotel when we were there. I really want to point out one person that worked there named .DELVIS. He was phenomenal!! On the checkout day, there was a big bike race, and one of the streets was closed so he set up a taxi service and helped carry our big suitcases about two blocks down the street amongst many people. Not one complaint was heard from him. He just stated to us that was part of his job! We need more people like him with his work ethic and smile as he does it! Thank you, thank you again!

Hospitality uncharacteristic of NYC Customer service was definitely the best part of my stay at this hotel. Thank you to Vincent and Vutha, the 2 doormen who were hospitable and helpful in making recommendations for my boyfriend and me. We stayed at the hotel a couple of times back in January and I only now had the time to leave this review. Thank you again! Hope to see you soon.

Norwegian Agua We didn't know that the hotel was 100 yards from times square, subway and hop on hop off bus also central park was a 15/20 mins walk away. We were so impressed with the look of the hotel on arrival. The doorman immediately took our cases and introduced us to Spencer on reception who even though we were very early about 09.30. the doorman (forgot his name) put our suitcases into storage then lead us into the breakfast area for breakfast which again we didn't expect. All the staff were very good and informative even down to telling us where the best pizza place was. 4 days in New York made even better by all the staff no matter what time of day, coffee & fresh water on tap in reception. The room was perfect very clean and tidy.
