Not Your Best, But Not The Worst.... This is my family's second time staying at Sand Dunes Resort. The first time two years ago, we rented a private condo through AirBnb with an upgraded and modern room. However, having access to the pools and water park were not included in my AirBnb price and amenities. This time, I decided to book directly through Sand Dunes website due to its cheaper price and having access to the water park. We stayed in Tower 1, which was a block over from the main office. Upon arrival, I could clearly see that the room was dated. The room overall was clean, but could use a nice painting and updated furniture. Our beds were clean and comfortable. One of the bathroom sinks had plumbing issues where the water drained very slow, but the second bathroom worked fine. Our room phone did not work, so I had to use my personal phone to call housekeeping. I did receive fresh towels the first time, but when housekeeping came the morning of our departure, I asked for fresh towels and she informed me that the Housing Manager was not in so she did not have access to fresh ones, which was off to me. Due to us being a block over and unable to walk to the main office, I just let it go. POSITIVES: My children and I enjoyed the water park. Although this resort is pretty big in size, the water park was not crowded at all and enjoyable for all ages. My only complaint is it needing more tables and shaded space for guest who are not in the water constantly. There's a great restaurant next door called River City Cafe' which served great food and drinks in walking distance. The beach was yards away and clean. We had no issues with parking as well in Tower 1 and always found a park. Would I stay at Sand Dunes again for the water park and close amenities? Yes. Would I stay there again as my first beach choice? Probably not.

Poor Service, Worse Security Spent a week here for my sons baseball tournament at Ripken, and I must say it is quite possibly one of the most poorly ran facilities I have ever been in. We switched credit cards used as a down payment for our room as my wife was no longer traveling with me on this trip for medical reasons. Mind you the money was out of our account for the down payment since January and we did not require a refund, however they required to issue a refund because my wife was not going to be present to "sign the receipt" that I was never presented with anyways. The Refund was not processed when we checked in yet so when I paid the total upon check in we were paid in full. Nobody owed anyone any money. On the last night of our stay they decided (even though we still had not been given a refund) to lock me and my 3 children out of our room that is a block walk away from the front desk. Attempted to call their number and because it was after 8 PM nobody at the front desk was answering phone. No phone call, no anything to me, their plan was just lock us out and force us to the front desk to pay an additional night that we did not owe or they wouldn't open our room. I paid the additional, then upon check out the next morning on my receipt it clearly showed I over paid by one night. Not surprised about that at all. To which I demanded a refund that they refused to give. Money is one thing but the fact they thought the answer was locking me out of my room with 3 young kids and all of our belongings in the room was the correct answer is beyond idiotic to me. It was a holiday weekend for goodness sake, 100% not safe for my kids and I to be locked out of our room. My 9 year old was in tears. Claimed the called my room, which didn't have a phone in it. Claimed they called my phone, and my wives, my wife was the only one called that day and the message left for her was a message explaining they were not sending us a refund check. Security is of no concern here. They hand you a bunch of wrist bands for "pool and water park access" that are supposed to be for guests only. Not once during our stay did anyone ask to see wrist bands, nor was there anyone checking people coming straight off the beach to the pool for wrist bands. The Pool was over-crowded daily with miscreants from surrounding facilities, or off the streets. Additionally the place is dirty, cockroaches in rooms, cockroaches in the attached restaurant kitchen area, restrooms, etc. The food at the restaurant was over priced, and tasted poorly. Pool was dirty, can't say I ever saw it cleaned once. Never had any towels out at the pool, always had to walk to the front desk for towels. Room was a block away (not disclosed when we booked) and was filled with sand before we arrived. even in the bed sheets. Drains did not drain, room was small, kitchen did not have a dishwasher although the listing said it did. Never once got towels replaced, even though we requested it numerous times. Place is an absolute dump - if you want to visit Myrtle Beach find somewhere else to spend your nights. This place was an absolute waste of my money and then some.

Horrible Stay – Black Mold, Dirty Room, Rude Staff I booked this hotel through Expedia and it was a disaster. The room was dirty — the bed sheets looked used, and the entire place was run-down. There was black mold in the bathroom, the sink wouldn’t drain, and the bathtub curtain rod was falling down, Vanity lights burned out. Even the door handle was broken.I reported it to the manager at checkout the very next early morning, and he was vulgar and completely unprofessional. I contacted Expedia, and a supervisor told me to check out due to the conditions. Later, they told me the hotel had blocked their number and refused to cooperate. In the end, Expedia charged me the full price anyway.I wouldn’t stay here again if it was free. Do yourself a favor and stay elsewhere. I would never book through expedia again.

Deplorable This resort looks nothing like the pictures so be aware. We had two rooms, one room was mediocre with chipped paint and dirt in the corners of the room. Our second room was disgusting. There was mold on the ceiling, chipped paint, iron burn on carpet, curtains had black film on it, assuming mold as well. The bathroom was old and dingy. When we went downstairs for breakfast, there was a huge hair in my food. The resort was dirty and not well kept.

Filthy, deceitful, misleading The Villas 11 are not as described, they are filthy, not at the resort, no pool, elevator is falling apart and completely filthy! The walls to the have nails coming out, walls are nasty, balcony is nasty, floors are nasty, haven’t had hot water in two days, put in 2 work orders, once with Justin as of today July 3rd 2025, the mattresses in all the rooms have springs coming through 5512-5513. Was told that they are owned by different owners and the owners say what is allowed to replaced, well we just spent 5,000. For us to have 4 bedrooms at the Villa which is two separate rooms that have two bedrooms each, they could care less about what is happening to guests, let’s don’t forget the websites, are def putting up false descriptions! Do not come here. I’m contacting the news, DhEC, and going to TikTok! This is completely dishonest!
