Hotel at a Glance: Sands Ocean Club

Sands Ocean Club was built for beach-goers. Ocean-facing rooms entice guests with views of Myrtle Beach’s warm sands and sparkling waves, which are just a few steps away from the resort’s beachside entrance. And aside from the traditional beach activities of tanning and swimming, Sands Ocean Club cultivates its own unique seaside scene at Ocean Annie’s beach bar, where nightly live music encourages sandy dance parties.

  • Efficiency rooms feature private balconies with coastal views, kitchenettes, and free WiFi.
  • Soak up sun anywhere: Lounge chairs abound along the beach, beside the outdoor pool, and on numerous patios.
  • Swim or float in the ocean, indoor or outdoor pools, or the resort’s own lazy river.
  • Sunrise illuminates breakfast through the ocean-facing windows of the aptly named Windows Oceanfront Restaurant.

Myrtle Beach, South Carolina: Sandy Beaches, Golf Courses, and Classic Amusement-Park Rides

Myrtle Beach is the crown jewel of South Carolina’s Grand Strand, a 60-mile stretch of white-sand beaches along the Atlantic seaboard that draws surfers, fishers, and kayakers. The city was named one of the best vacation spots in the United States for a family by USA Today, in part because of its wooden boardwalk, which stretches for more than a mile and buzzes with carnival games and amusement-park rides. Hop into the SkyWheel Ferris wheel’s gondolas, surrounded by more than a million LED lights, for a panoramic view of the city below.

Less than 20 miles south of Myrtle Beach, the tiny fishing village of Murrells Inlet provides a tranquil contrast to the boardwalk’s hustle and bustle. At Brookgreen Gardens, more than 2,000 sculptures stand amid sprawling floral gardens and massive, moss-covered oak trees that have been around for centuries. Murrells Inlet is also home to the Tom Fazio–designed TPC Myrtle Beach golf course, 1 of nearly 100 courses in the area that helped Myrtle Beach earn its title as the seaside golf capital of the world.

The resort had a lot of things to do! It was kind of far away from the strip so that compensated from having to drive so much! Overall nice clean room & awesome trip!

Very disappointed! This is the worst hotel we have stayed in. Pictures when booking are false advertisement! From the get go, we had to tip to get our luggage taken to our room. You can’t take a cart yourself. We were taken to a room that we didn’t choose so we were assigned a different one. When we went in the carpet felt wet. The room wasn’t cool but we figured when we lowered the temperature it would cool. Nope, the room became more and more damp. The temperature got hotter. The staff at the front desk was nice and sent maintenance to fix it. It did cool, but the carpet was still wet. The room was outdated and the bathroom door would hardly shut. The pool was too small to accommodate all the people there. Indoor hot tub was not hot. The parking deck was a mess. We actually had to use the deck across the street our second night there and there was no elevator. Had to use stairs to climb 3 floors. We cut our visit short by one night. We were ready to get out of there! The best thing was the staff at the front desk. We were so disappointed because this was the last trip for our granddaughters before school started back. Definitely will not be back!

I expected more..!!! No reinvestment by owners Room was almost a joke, bed springs were poking you all night and room looked decorated in the 1990’s. Getting your stuff to the room is a scam, they force you to a leaking old parking deck while carts are protected by private bell men just waiting to help you for a tip. Pack lite or pay the man ..!! Best part of the trip, water pressure for the shower is awsome. Ocean Annie’s is the drawn, only live band and drinks on the beach til 11pm. Two restaurants on the property, River City & Windows Bar and grill, food at both was ok. River City had good chicken wings and burgers while Windows served a buffet breakfast that was $15. I guess you just don’t see ANY reinvestment back into the property by the owners. It’s in need of a remodel or something, just look in the stair wells and you’ll see paint from when the place opened. You can’t hold on to the handrails in fear of the chipped paint cutting you. SOC please improve, your customers deserve better than a room & facility from the 90’s.

Not worth the money The pictures are definitely misleading. We got a 2 bedroom 2 bath. The 2nd bedroom was extremely tiny almost like a closet with 2 twin beds pushed in it. The dishwasher was full of dirty dishes from the previous people. Most of the rooms are conjoined with others. The neighbor's had their TV up all night so loud and it was on the other side of our bedroom. You can’t open your balcony doors for two long before your room smells like smoke and weed, from other balconies . Our friend’s room had a broken TV and Toilet that had to be repaired on their arrival. No hospitality, when asking a question, it’s like you are bothering them with any concerns. The tiny lazy river really doesn’t work like a lazy river. The pool can be used by anyone, they don’t have the bracelets like they use too. The A/C has a set limit on it. The parking is a night mare in the garages, if you can find a spot. It would take us least 30/40 every night to find a spot to park in when we would return from going out. There are a lot of old cars and junk taking up spaces that have been there for years. Definitely not worth the money paid.
