Pismo Beach, California: Surf Town Close to Wine Country

Pismo Beach is a small city with the recipe for California-coast appeal: sun, sand, surf, and a backdrop of hills overlooking a valley of vineyards. Weather is key to the beach culture here; Pismo Beach enjoys 315 days of sunshine each year and temperatures ranging from 66 to 84 degrees. Year-round, surfers descend on the 23-mile coast along with vacationers looking to get tans. Visitors explore isolated dunes on the southern end of town and fish off the central pier.

The warm weather and misty mornings of this coastal stretch also provide great conditions for winemaking in the nearby Edna Valley. With one of California’s longest growing seasons, the Edna Valley AVA has some of the region’s best wineries, producing large quantities of chardonnay, pinot noir, and syrah.

We received wonderful service from Sylvia as we checked in. She was very thorough in giving us all the information we needed. The hotel is beautiful and we had a great first stay, one of many to come. The ocean view room upgrade we got was just what we needed. Thank you for a wonderful experience.

Beautiful spot, stay was ok We stopped in Pismo Beach on a road trip from San Francisco to LA. The surroundings are beautiful and the room was nice but a couple things made our stay not so great. We arrived an hour and a half before check-in and they charged us $30 to get into the room early. I have never had that happen at a hotel before and was put off by it. Note they did not offer a rebate when we checked out early! There is an outdoor heated pool and multiple hot tubs. None of the hot tubs were hot – they were all lukewarm and the jets did not work. Also, a child threw up in the pool and no one did anything about it! Overall, kind of gross. It’s a beautiful place though and the hotel is in a great spot and has lots of chairs and fire pits outside.

You can't beat the gorgeous views at this hotel What GORGEOUS views! Although I didn't spend the night here, family did so we spent an entire day at the pool, hot tub and in the rooms. What a phenomenon view of the pool, ocean, and palm trees. So pretty. They had fire pits outside, games, several hot tubs (some 18+), and a pool. Family had a balcony and a slight ocean view. You can't beat Pismo!

No Seating?! Not as advertised. No place to sit. No sofa. No chair. Small dining chairs. Website shows the one room that apparently has a sitting area. Even the most basic room has a sofa, chair, or desk. Space is stark and uninviting. 3 star accommodation? I don’t think so. Be aware before booking. Ruined stay.
