Canyonville, Oregon: Forests and Wineries within Umpqua Valley

The quiet town of Canyonville nestles into southwestern Oregon’s Umpqua Valley, set amid a broad forest of pine trees and Douglas firs. Take a drive through the valley to marvel at roaring cascades, cruise through covered bridges, and sample Pinot Noir at several area wineries. If you want to stretch your muscles, hop out of the car near the Umpqua River, a popular spot to fish, kayak, and raft.

Crater Lake National Park is located about 90 miles to the east, and it makes for a great day trip. Miles of hiking trails encircle the deep-blue Crater Lake—America’s deepest—located in a hollowed-out volcano caldera.

Grand hotel & casino Beautiful property with friendly, helpful staff. Room was exceptionally clean & fresh, bed comfortable. The option to rent a mobility scooter was a major plus. Restaurant choices were great, from hot dogs to steaks & sushi. Gaming was fun.

Change is hard The room and view were fantastic. We prefer staying in the East Tower, with a view of the mountains. The check in process was extremely smooth. The staff were wonderful Change is hard. We tried the new "snack bar" that recently opened and were disappointed that you are no longer offering REAL ice cream. We both had milkshakes and sad to say, they are not nearly as good. My wife also had a dish of ice cream and was sadly disappointed in that too. I thought it was odd that the food aisle opposite the new snack bar only took cards and no cash. A woman came over to pay, and she was told that she had to use a card to pay for her items and that they were not allowed to utilize the snack bar for payment. I think that is a major flaw in your new system. It certainly was a shock to the woman trying to pay for her items. And to think, a casino is a cash based operation. Hopefully when the burger/pizza bar opens that will change. I also missed the "waitresses" in the gaming area. We did not see any. All completely self serve now. Not so sure I liked that either. Nice to have an option. Like I mentioned earlier, change is hard.

Family Fun For Everyone!! We stay here often. It is our grandson's favorite place to stay. The rooms, restaurants, swimming pool, gaming and arcade make it so enjoyable for the entire family. The staff is so friendly and helpful. The spa and gift shop are nice amenities as well. You get a lot of value for the price.
