Beautiful Fall Getaway We stayed here for two nights recently, and we had a very nice time. Going in the fall was extremely special. The view from our balcony was over the lake and the moon was full. When the light from the moon hit the lake, it was stunning. The leaves were at full peak. Just tons of acres of land covered with beautiful leaves. The bar in the lobby at the conference center hotel had some nice happy hour deals. The pool was small, but a really nice area surrounded by windows so we could enjoy the colors. I do wish the hotel was a little easier to navigate, but other than that, we had a very nice time. We plan to return sometime for a nice couples getaway.

Great amenities and great ski location We were only 8 minutes from Schuss Mountain. Amenities such as pool, hot tube, steam room, and sauna were great. The one BR unit allowed us to sleep 6 people because it had a loft. The on-site restaurant was reasonably priced and has a wonderful view of sunsets. The front desk even had swim wear for sale.

Good, inexpensive ski fun Perfect for a family that wants to ski together & not have to take another mortgage out on the home. Close to ski hill, great skiing. Our room had a wonderful view of Lake Bellaire plus it’s a short drive to restaurants, grocery store and gas stations.

Never coming back. Horrible stay and the resort is a complete joke. We were completely disappointed with our stay here. The restaurant Dinner buffet was terrible. The food was gross and the cocktails were watered down. Rooms were extremely outdated with cheap toiletries. There were teenagers running up and down our hallway screaming and yelling. We called the front desk and were told they would be sending security. The yelling and running continued through midnight. No turn down service, wall unit AC/Heat that barely worked, and the TV was tiny. We will never be staying here again. A very disappointing trip for our first time ever skiing.

The Worst Ski Trip Ever I have taken many ski trips, some alone, some with family or friends. This one was the worst ever. I would give the resort a zero if the ratings went that low. My daughter and I skied for about an hour at the Summit slopes and then encountered a lift problem. As we reached the top of the hill, the chair lurched hard to the side and my daughter couldn’t get off right away. I waited an extra second or two for her. I found my skis in the air when she got off, so I jumped. This did not end well; I pulled a hamstring and was done skiing for the weekend, as well as the next two…so far. My daughter told the lift attendant about the chair lurching and he said, “yeah, it does that.” So why hasn’t it been fixed? Before my injury, it seemed like the chair was stopping a lot. Maybe for the same reason? I asked for a full refund for lodging and lift tickets, since the chair problem ruined our trip. My request was refused. I wrote to Shanty Creek after getting home, making the same request; I did not get a return message. I basically wasted $900+ on a failed ski weekend. There were other problems. I have made trips to Shanty Creek three times in the last five years. Each time, two of the best front-side runs have been closed off for racing. This place isn’t that big; that cuts off much of the best free skiing. No discounts for limiting the available runs, either. The breakfast buffet was 18.50 for adults, 16.50 for teenagers. The offerings were meager and the food was of poor quality, featuring dry waffles, dry pancakes, and dry French toast. My leftovers from the freezer are better. If you must go to Shanty Creek, skip the buffet and bring your own food for breakfast. Having also visited here back in the 1990’s, I would say that this resort has declined in quality and in customer service a great deal over the years. It used to be nice. Used to be. I do not see us coming back.
