Hotel at a Glance, Shelburne Hotel & Suites by Affinia

Located right in central Manhattan, the four-star hotel may prove to be a perfect jumping board for exploring the city. Many of New York’s most iconic attractions – including the Crysler Building, The Central Park, Empire State Building, and Grand Central Station – are just a short walk away. And to make each guest truly feel the urban lifestyle even if they’re staying inside, the rooms have recently been renovated and redesigned by Andrea Dawson with Walt Whitman and his great love for the city in mind. The hotel’s decor, amenities, and attention to detail have earned it Trip Advisor Traveller’s Choice Award for 2020.

  • Work remote: the hotel understands that in the city that never sleeps, some of the visitors may very well have to work. That’s why the rooms and suites are spacious and offer big desks, high-speed internet, and views of the city.
  • Relax while the valet staff takes care of the curbside parking for you (fees apply).
  • Keep fit in a well-equipped fitness center, available 24/7.
  • Admire art of a famed photographer @humzadeas, whose work is on display throughout Shelburne Hotel & Suites.

Flatiron District, New York: Historic Architecture, High-End Shopping, and Madison Square Park

Located about a mile south of Times Square, the Flatiron District has plenty of history—Theodore Roosevelt was born here, and the area is home to the Met Life Tower, the New York Life Building, and other well-known Manhattan skyscrapers. Back on the ground, the district draws shoppers to the homebases of high-end outlets such as Bergdorf Goodman and Lord & Taylor. Life-long learners can also find a curious attraction in the neighborhood: the Museum of Sex offers visitors a look at more than 15,000 artifacts and artworks depicting human sexuality.

Outside of the Flatiron District, the rest of Manhattan awaits you. Not far away is Madison Square Park, a public park with newly revamped gardens, and the Shake Shack, a popular year-round outdoor burger stand well worth the usual wait (be sure to save room for the frozen custard). The park is just a few blocks from Madison Square Garden, home to the New York Knicks and frequent venue for the city’s biggest concerts.

Service is atrocious here. They left my car with valet unattended and I got a parking ticket. Hotel assistant front desk manager told me they would pay for the parking ticket directly, swore up and down I wouldn’t have to worry about it going forward. Called back two weeks later to check on the ticket and found out they credited a credit card that wasn’t mine and won’t pay the ticket directly.

The area is great , the room was clean and updated. Service was disappointing and the room was unbearable due to the HVAC did not work. The front desk claimed the building’s system was set to “neutral “ because winter was coming. Well it was 78 degrees at midnight. I know because I couldn’t sleep to being so hot. Disappointed to pay $300 for a sweaty unbearable night.
