Atlantic City, New Jersey: Casinos and Carnival Rides Lining Historical Beachside Boardwalk

No trip to Atlantic City is complete without a stroll along its signature boardwalk, which stretches for 6 miles along New Jersey's eastern coast. Originally built in 1870 to keep sand out of hotel lobbies, the boardwalk grew in popularity as a place where you could drink and gamble during Prohibition without much trouble from the police, as depicted in HBO's Boardwalk Empire. The boardwalk is still popular for its casinos, but it's family-friendly, too; visitors are just as inclined to sit at the beach or stop at one of the many carnival rides.

On the boardwalk, it's worth it to check out the Absecon Lighthouse, which is more than 150 years old. It's possible to climb its 228 steps to the top, which features sweeping views of the city skyline and the sea.

Very nice and fun Great hotel and water park. Kids enjoyed the arcade a lot, as well as ocean views. We will come back if we are ever in town again.

BEWARE! First of all, we have stayed here before and compared, I would have wished it was better, and yet, failed. To charge $30 to check in early, PATHETIC! I purchased the room, which included water park tickets; therefore, we were forced to pay the fee in order to go into the water park. Our room was disgusting, unkept, dirty, and I am sure infested with bed bugs based on the furniture in the room. The hallways are filthy, loud, and filled with garbage. We go to the water, pay a good amount to just watch our children and NOT ONE BAR IS OPEN!!!!! WHAT IS THAT!?!?!?! We were forced to leave the water park, go to the rest bar to purchase a drink...this is virtually useless to force your wet child out of the park to get a drink! JOKE!!!! There are 3 bars and NOT ONE OPENED the entire time we were in the park. We ordered a pizza for $35 (JOKE), to have it NOT cooked, raw dough, and wouldn't remake it, due to the lengthy time frame/wait or refund the cost. Most of the festive areas that were decorated in the past, were CLOSED completely or blocked off and not accessible. Race cars were not operating until after 9PM, and the advertised restaurant was also closed down. Thank goodness we left the hotel to eat! My children wanted to "roller skate"...which was another huge let down. The ground was uneven and not even appropriate for skating. Not too mention, it took the staff three attempts to get us the correct size skates, which we knew in advance what size we requested. They couldn't manage to find the correct sizes or the correct foot. When it was finally time to go to our rooms, the hallway was even worse. The noise was out of hand until after midnight and you could literally hear the TV from the room next store and guess what...WIFI DIDN'T WORK AT ALL!!!!! Therefore, neither did the TV...enjoy sitting in a room, nothing to watch, but the filth surrounding you and wondering mind thinking you will be crawling with bed bugs shortly...and yet you paid over $350 for the room!!!!!! Yea, NOT AGAIN!

Sorry to say but Place is outdated and not clean at all. Nowhere to eat on site had to go eat breakfast and dinner at other hotels. Usually even if the food is basic I would stay at same place but would not go. There no vents in bathroom one side of the sink was over flowing and not going down.
