Atlantic City, New Jersey: Casinos and Carnival Rides Lining Historical Beachside Boardwalk

No trip to Atlantic City is complete without a stroll along its signature boardwalk, which stretches for 6 miles along New Jersey's eastern coast. Originally built in 1870 to keep sand out of hotel lobbies, the boardwalk grew in popularity as a place where you could drink and gamble during Prohibition without much trouble from the police, as depicted in HBO's Boardwalk Empire. The boardwalk is still popular for its casinos, but it's family-friendly, too; visitors are just as inclined to sit at the beach or stop at one of the many carnival rides.

On the boardwalk, it's worth it to check out the Absecon Lighthouse, which is more than 150 years old. It's possible to climb its 228 steps to the top, which features sweeping views of the city skyline and the sea.

Family Friendly w/ lots to do! Upgraded room to suite and it was horrible! Filthy! Went back to regular renovated queen room and it was so much better! Pillows are small. Walls are thin. But clean and comfy overall. Staff were overall very friendly and helpful. Arcade was pretty cool and there was lots to do for under 18y/o. We had a great time at the water park (our kids aged 2&5). I think Valet perhaps could have been more welcoming and it was difficult getting a cart for luggage (no bell hop, have to leave ID to get cart). The food was ok. (I’m from Jersey and the pizza inside the casino was not great. Just head to the boardwalk). This casino is very family friendly —if you’re looking for romance or upscale this is not it.

Not happy but the Waterpark redeemed the trip The comforter has blood on it when I called the front desk and housekeeping around 7pm no one answered. The next morning was able to get a new comforter. However the next evening housekeeping was cleaning the room across the hall and making a ridiculous amount of noise at 11pm. Slamming doors, talking loud and even leaning on our door while talking. My children woke up from it. When my husband came out they stopped momentarily but slammed the doors as they left. They say no smoking but the entire floor smelled like nicotine. The room was ol but our connected room was supposed to have 2 twins but only had one. The room had an ok set up but looked run down. There was limited lighting because either some fixtures were removed or needed replacement. The carpet was very dirty. I spent alot for a suite AND parking was a separate fee per day. We only came for the water park. The only redeeming experience was the manager in charge of the cabanas and food service. I sent an email that was ignored for the event package so I spent $200 more because of that. The manager gave us game cards to make up for it. Then the cabana allegedly didn't have 50% of the menu. The food service manager walked us around and got me everything we needed. She rectified the problem personally and immediately.

Not worth the money. This is a very disappointing hotel. The room looks nice at first, but the bathroom is out dated with no amenities. When we got to our room, there was no hairdryer and not enough pillows two flat pillows per queen bed. We kept trying to call the front desk and housekeeping, and no one answered. The bed himself look very nice, but of course being a hotel we’re not very comfortable. The pillows were flat and despite requesting Moore finally when we went downstairs at the front desk, we did not receive any additional pillows. The bathroom gave you that one roll of toilet paper half used and did not provide any additional toilet paper in the room so again we had to press our luck and try calling for more. The hotel look overall is a mess. Most of the hotel was closed from what used to be the casino. The arcade had awful prizes and the ones that were actually good were way too expensive, what if I went to Dave & Buster’s or even down the Jersey shore, we would’ve gotten More tokens for the amount that we spent and better prizes. Half of the games didn’t even work to begin with. With the hotel itself, having no real restaurant, you absolutely will have to leave to go and find something. I will say the waterpark is very nice very clean and does have a good option for food however, there are definitely not enough rides for smaller children if you come with a kid who is Two and younger, they can really only go in the 3 foot pool even for the baby slide they were measuring and the kids had to be 36 inches other rides that claim you only need to be 42 to ride. They also weigh you, so if you weren’t the appropriate weight at 42 inches you couldn’t even go on those slides or activities. Your best bet is to go to great Wolf Lodge or Kalahari, where none of this happens. They have way more water rides and is an overall better experience.
