Amazing hotel and service This was a quick one night stay after our cruise so we could take the kids to Animal Kingdom before heading back home. The hotel was very large and spacious, clean, modern feel. The lazy pool was fun. The staff and service was impeccable- Brian, Dream and Amjette at the front desk were amazing, as was Ashlee with F&B. Breakfast buffet was top notch. We got early check in which was very much appreciated. Bottled water in the room. It was a $10-15 uber to animal kingdom and convenient free shuttle bus if the times aligned. We were not expecting this and were pleasantly surprised. Especially after staying at the Polynesian pre-cruise which I thought was very dated, smaller rooms, extremely crowded with subpar service, below average food, horrible breakfast and over 3-4 times the price.

Still good but used to be great!! This used to be one of my favorite hotels to visit. But over the years, the deferred maintenance is catching up to the property, particularly in the pool areas. We we arrived at the pool/lazy river the employee told us that there were no towels at this time and that towels would be arriving in about 5 to 10 minutes. 45 minutes later the towels finally arrived. Mini other guests reported that they have been waiting already for 45 minutes before they arrive, which means they were without towels for at least 90 minutes. When I did get towels, upon inspection, one of them literally had bugs in it (see pic below). Many of the pool loungers were literally busted. The seats did not provide a safe place for people to lounge. In addition, the pool was filled with leaves, napkins, and other trash and debris. No one was observed to be taken care of the area in anyway, during the time we were at the pool The dirty towel bin was overflowing, as was the trash in some of the bins. This is really disappointing for this Hilton property. It used to stand as a shining star, but the star has definitely dimmed these days. The room was nice though. It was clean (a hair or 2 in the bathroom) but overall clean. All in all I would definitely return to this property but my expectations are lower now which makes me a little sad.

Amazing stay This hotel was beautiful. From the moment I walked in I was blown away! The service is spectacular very hospitable and all of the employees from front desk to valet and housekeeping are great. Friendly faces and warm welcomes. I am a Hilton employee and this was my favorite Hilton hotel I’ve been to. I will recommend it to many people especially the beautiful pool. I can’t wait to be back soon!

Not for us This was our first stay at this Resort and would we stay again? It was not for us. We are Disney people and this was the first time we had stayed at a non Disney Resort; having stayed in many Disney Resorts (deluxe and moderate) for the last 25 years. Staying for at least two weeks at any one time, a couple of times a year. The first night we arrived the fire alarm went off at approximately 1 am. We left the building and went outside. We saw absolutely no one from the Resort and not knowing what was happening, we made our way to reception at the front of the Resort. Upon entering it appeared everything was continuing as normal. People were still drinking and Muse was operating as usual. We eventually spoke to someone at the desk and he told us “staff had walked the floors and return to our room”. We did not and by this time the fire department trucks had arrived. We did eventually get back to our room and our only source of information was from a guest in the morning, who said it was an electrical fault; whether this was true who knows. We stayed at Wilderness Lodge when the alarm went off and we felt so much safer!! The Resort was clean and tidy. Parking easy to navigate and staff ok although not what I would call friendly. Check out was stressful (our total stay was for two weeks) as bill was completely wrong. It was eventually sorted. Lazy river good for children; we preferred Astoria pool. Room large. Bed comfortable. There are several restaurants to choose from. Good lobby music. For us, it was not holiday enough more interested in conference guests. I think they should be able to make holiday and conference guests feel important. Also they say things are complementary but you pay a resort fee which is fine but the pool rings and bus to the parks are included in this fee; so not complimentary but you pay for these, they are not extra.

Price isn't justified by the overall experience After careful consideration of several cheaper and more expensive hotels like this one for our 2 nights stay in Orlando, we chose this hotel mainly based on the pictures and the reviews. Since I'm not as satisfied as I should be after spending quite a lot of money, I'd like to share my experiences here. First of all, the first looks of the hotel are nice. Not as super fancy as in the pictures here, but I guess that's the case with most accommodations. If you take a closer look, you'll see that some parts of the hotel are definitely outdated (mainly the building itself and the bathroom) and the renewed parts are also showing some wear and tear. The property in general looks nice and the location is nice and convenient as well. To my disappointment, there was not much that shows that the hotel is an Official Walt Disney World Hotel - while you probably pay a lot extra for that label. As for cleanliness; the room looked clean at first sight, but we encountered quite some dust around our room. The windows were quite dirty, which affected the lovely view we got. The tap in the bath was leaking - but we haven't mentioned it so I can't say anything about how they deal with such issues. The room itself was fine; beds were good and the furnishings look nice. There were also enough ways to charge all our devices. Plenty of space in the room to stay with 4 people (we stayed with 3). Our only complaint is the small closet that is definitely not large enough to accommodate more than 2 people - while the large room allows for a much larger closet. As said, the bathroom was quite outdated but functional. However, showering in a bath and with a shower curtain feels to me like something from the previous century. The wifi was good - but for a $50 daily resort fee it is ridiculous that you can only use the wifi for 2 devices (while the room accommodates 4 people). Same goes for the two bottles of free water daily, two paper cups, etc. Where it went totally downhill for us was the breakfast service. When we went down for breakfast on our first morning, we were told that we had to wait approximately 30 minutes before we could get seated at the buffet. I stayed at a lot of large resorts and have never encountered something ridiculous as a 30 minute wait for a buffet. As probably many people here, we were on quite a tight schedule to make the most out of our days here, so we decided to not wait and take something from the grab & go in the lobby. There were probably more people having the same issue - because the lines at the grab & go were outrageous long as well. The options at the grab & go were also quite limited, relatively expensive and the quality was not very good. And, we also needed to wait quite a long time to receive our order after we already stood in a long line to order, so even the grab & go took us quite a long time. That evening, we decided to share our disappointment about this at the reception. We didn't get an apology or whatsoever; the lady told us that the hotel was full and they totally saw this coming. If you saw this coming: why aren't you acting upon it?! I've stayed in some very large resorts and I've never experienced something ridiculous as this. The only thing we could try was go very early or very late and hope it was less busy and that's it. As we had more time the next morning, we decided to go very late and we were 'lucky' to have a seat at the buffet. There are two buffet options that aren't explained adequately (and visibly there's only one buffet - very confusing), but it was nothing special for the $24, $30 or whatever it would cost you (probably more!). Service wasn't very special either - it looked like normal questions (can we get tea? can we get salt and pepper?) were already frowned upon. And then came the best part: we went to check out and the lines were very long, so an employee offered everyone waiting in line to just hand in their cards without being able to check the room bill. Luckily I decided not to as I always check the bill since mistakes can always happen (and are human!) and luckily for everyone else in line they also decided not to. The people in front of us checking out were clearly struggling with their bills and when I finally received mine, there was an outrageous amount charged for the one breakfast we had: $150 when the breakfast buffet was $24 (x 3 = $72). When I pointed that out, the lady at the reception acted like the charge was totally normal. She would only look into it after I insisted I was not going to pay that. She eventually needed to check it out at the buffet itself (which took like an extra 15 to 20 minutes) and in the meantime we found out that the other people checking out also had issues with their restaurant bills. When she came back, she said our waiter told her we were having breakfast with 4 (whilst staying there with 3 people) and we were eating meat, which apparently meant we used the more expensive buffet of $30 instead of $24. Both were definitely not true and we have no idea why we were accused of those things, but the whole attitude of the staff and the accusations made us felt like we were very annoying guests - while the hotel was definitely in the wrong here. And even if we were with 4 people eating meat, that would only be $120 and not $150, but that all seemed very surprising to them. All in all we got this solved, but only because we stood our ground and the whole experience was not very customer friendly. And one last disappointment: during the booking we clearly mentioned we came here to celebrate the birthday of someone in our travel party. To our disappointment, the hotel hasn't done anything to acknowledge this festive occasion. We weren't expecting anything big of course, but not even leaving a small note congratulating your guest is for me the perfect example of the customer experience that is totally lacking in this place. We paid a lot of money for the two nights we stayed here and unfortunately, our expectations were not met. We wish we would have gone for some cheaper option with good ratings as we felt there are probably a lot of places where we could get a better value for our money. If you however decide to stay here: please make sure to check your room bill upon checking out because issues with restaurant bills seem quite normal here!!
