Pismo Beach, California: Surf Town Close to Wine Country

Pismo Beach is a small city with the recipe for California-coast appeal: sun, sand, surf, and a backdrop of hills overlooking a valley of vineyards. Weather is key to the beach culture here; Pismo Beach enjoys 315 days of sunshine each year and temperatures ranging from 66 to 84 degrees. Year-round, surfers descend on the 23-mile coast along with vacationers looking to get tans. Visitors explore isolated dunes on the southern end of town and fish off the central pier.

The warm weather and misty mornings of this coastal stretch also provide great conditions for winemaking in the nearby Edna Valley. With one of California’s longest growing seasons, the Edna Valley AVA has some of the region’s best wineries, producing large quantities of chardonnay, pinot noir, and syrah.

Had a blast walking along the bluffs and hanging at the pool. Super cool shops etc. nearby. The best part was Lily at the reception desk. Brought a smile to our faces and made our trip. She needs a raise!

Disappointed due to uninformed construction Clean, staff very nice and helpful. Im very disappointed i was not informed there would be construction in the closed restaurant on the property. I paid for oceanfront room with balcony but could not enjoy it, all day from early morning to after dark I had to listen to sawing, hammering etc. Why didn't hotel inform me when I made reservation. I am hesitant to recommend this hotel if they're not going to let people know what's going on that may affect my stay.

wonderful experience We lost count at 50 Spyglass stays over 30 years. Spyglass is wonderful during day walks at numerous local beaches and evenings around the firepit. Pismo Beach local fish at ANNA Fish Market. is a winner!

Look elsewhere for a hotel in Pismo Beach. This hotel badly needs a complete refurbishment. We booked this hotel mainly for cost savings and wish we had booked another hotel even if it cost more. Despite that we spent over $800 for a 3 night stay in the middle of the week. This hotel needs a complete refurbishment, badly. The furniture was something you would find on the side of the road. (See photo of couch) and the wall art were hideous. On top of this, parking was $10 a night. The tile floor and carpeting was filthy. You have to push the door to the toilet/shower room hard to get it to close. We were awakened each morning by the guest walking around in the room above us. The patio chairs were sad as well. All in all a poor excuse for a hotel in a great location overlooking the ocean.
