Pismo Beach, California: Surf Town Close to Wine Country

Pismo Beach is a small city with the recipe for California-coast appeal: sun, sand, surf, and a backdrop of hills overlooking a valley of vineyards. Weather is key to the beach culture here; Pismo Beach enjoys 315 days of sunshine each year and temperatures ranging from 66 to 84 degrees. Year-round, surfers descend on the 23-mile coast along with vacationers looking to get tans. Visitors explore isolated dunes on the southern end of town and fish off the central pier.

The warm weather and misty mornings of this coastal stretch also provide great conditions for winemaking in the nearby Edna Valley. With one of California’s longest growing seasons, the Edna Valley AVA has some of the region’s best wineries, producing large quantities of chardonnay, pinot noir, and syrah.

Had a blast walking along the bluffs and hanging at the pool. Super cool shops etc. nearby. The best part was Lily at the reception desk. Brought a smile to our faces and made our trip. She needs a raise!

Have your confirmation email ready I paid EXTRA for an oceanview room and when I arrived I was provided a "partial view room" then the front desk offered to upgrade my room for an additional $20. I went ahead and provided $20 cash while I pulled up my confirmation email to confirm that I had booked oceanview. By then, the employee said they were sold out on Ocean View. Assuming you are trying to upgrade every guest so you eventually ran out of rooms. So I was left without an Ocean View that I had originally paid for. I showed the employee the confirmation, so she gave me my $20 back but I was left without the Ocean View room. I travel to Pismo regularly and stayed at different locations to compare and contrast. I was very disappointed with this experience, I overpaid for a partial view room. When I got to my balcony to see my partial view, the neighboring room had a guest on the phone and since these are shared balconies with no gap in between I didn't enjoy that experience either. The next morning, there was construction happening on my side of the wing so that was also unpleasant.

Short and sweet. Would like to spend more time there. Beautiful rooms with balconies overlooking the ocean. Nice brief walk along ocean, close to restaurants. Place to have a bonfire and cook s'mores which we will do next time.
