Hilltop Resort with Views of New Hampshire’s Lakes Region
After a day skiing, there aren't many places better to relax than in Steele Hill Resorts' warm lagoon pool bathed in sunlight. Located within a 20-minute drive of Gunstock Mountain Resort—and less than an hour drive from Loon Mountain, Waterville Valley, and Ragged Mountain Resort—Steele Hill houses a steamy glass atrium pool area that offers everything a sore skier could want: a heated pool, a sauna, a jacuzzi, and a roman bath. It's easy to recharge here so you can happily explore the resort’s hardwood forests, where families can skate on the pond, sled, and snowshoe. You can climb an observation tower for 360-degree views of the White Mountains and New Hampshire’s Lakes Region spread out below, too.
Many of Steele Hill’s suites and townhouses provide exquisite views of the Belknap Mountain Range and Lake Winnisquam. Inside one of the resort's one-bedroom suites, a private balcony overlooks the lakes and mountains. Each room is slightly different, but many rooms include either a balcony or a patio. The West hotel room is more modest in size, but also features views of the surrounding nature. Each two-bedroom west townhouse, meanwhile, is good for a large family or group—they offer two bathrooms, a living room with a sleeper sofa, and plenty of space.
You’ll find plenty of things to do on the property, starting with dinner at The Hilltop Restaurant, where chefs prepare chicken saltimbocca and bison burgers surrounded by views of the New Hampshire countryside. Elsewhere, you can explore the resort's five miles of wanderable trails. Children who bring their own toboggans can whiz down the sledding hill or head over to play the Xbox Kinect in the main building’s lobby.
