Negril, Jamaica: Laid-Back Beach Town with Picturesque Sunsets, Snorkeling, and Cliff Diving

Located on Jamaica’s western coast, Negril is known for its white-sand beaches, dramatic rugged cliffs, and coral reefs lying just offshore in the Caribbean. Its underwater beauty makes the town a popular spot for scuba diving and snorkeling at Negril Marine Park, and anglers have found the sea filled with blue marlin, wahoo, and mahi-mahi. The city has a front-row seat to some of the world’s most beautiful sunsets, and people often climb to the top of waterfront cliffs just to watch. At Rick’s Cafe, which is listed in the book 1,000 Places To See Before You Die, groups congregate every night to watch the sun dip below the horizon; some brave adventurers even leap off the 35-foot cliffs into the water.

Often called "the capital of casual," Negril is best defined by its laid-back vibe, from the slow and steady rhythm of the indigenous reggae music to its unofficial uniform—swimsuits and flip-flops. Running along the town is Seven Mile Beach, a stretch of powdery, white-sand coastline that earned a spot on Frommer’s Best Beaches in the Caribbean list. The town center comprises a shopping mall and a craft market where visitors can pick up locally produced goods.

Wonderful resort with the best staff ever. Stayed here from 20/10 to 3/11 and as all the reviews say this is a beautiful resort with the best group of staff you could wish for. Great rooms on stilts in a tropical garden with great food. This is a smaller low key resort and all the better for it unlike the concrete boxes across the road at the RUI. Beautiful beach with a beach club for drinks and food with a member of staff to guide you across the road. We unfortunately only had 5 good days here before Melissa started to make her presence felt and everything was wound down in preparation. A category 5 hurricane is one of the scariest things you can experience but I can't thank Donna the manager and her staff enough for providing a safe place to ride it out and keep us all fed and watered. It must have been unimaginable how they felt looking after us given the uncertainty regarding their loved ones. Once over the staff began clearing up straight away and I'm sure the hotel will be up and running in no time. I would also thank Donna for chasing up the TUI reps who completely forgot we were there when sorting out evacuation flights. If she had not of chased them down we might still be there.

Our Own Cocoon What a wonderful place! We felt like we were in our own tropical paradise, the surroundings were beautiful and well kept our accommodation suited the tropical surroundings with beautiful bird’s nesting in the trees, with a lovely big clean comfy bed and big powerful shower it was kept clean. It was our Anniversary while we were there so on arrival they had put a banner on our door which was a lovely touch Staff ! what can l say apart from they all made the place even more special nothing was too much for them always ready to help they are a credit to the hotel on arrival and throughout our stay Bianka and Jamey from concierge gave us a great welcome and was there for us throughout our stay. The food at the buffet was lovely plenty of variety with different themes every night. The a la carte had plenty of choices and was cooked to perfection, the chef’s culinary experience was great too with the chef’s showing off their skills with different dishes special mention to Jason,Tanaka,Cristina,Claudette and Tishauna who always had a service with a smile We didn’t use the pool side as we like to be by the sea, it’s a short walk across the road we had security check you in and out of the resort and stopped the traffic to get you across the road safely (thanks to Kadian,Okena, Chris and Daniel) but it didn’t matter as it’s your own private personal beach with plenty of sun beds and parasols the beach guys with so lovely they seated you where you wanted to sit and brought towels and a table we would like mention Clevon,Damion,Jovian’s, Klevon and Orlando who are a great bunch of guys they made our holiday special and had a great laugh with them. The staff at the beach bar we’re great fun always new what you wanted before you asked _ special mention to Briteny,Odine,Shirlene,Patray, The food at the beach bar was lovely with specials every day, always cooked fresh to order special mention to chef Jadene and her team Andrice, Andricka and BB and all other staff we may have left out They have a mantra come as guests stay as friends return as family how true this is exactly how we felt Thank you for a wonderful time Kim & John

Irie From start to finish it was all good. Book with them, you get Mobay to walk you through the lines, mitigate small issues, and assure you it's goin' to be alright. They include the transportation and it was safe and quick. The check-in is easy and painless. The rooms are just as they look online with cleaning done to perfection daily. The food is good starting with breakfast and including lunch on the beach. There is one restaurant and that's fine. Casual relaxation is the vibe. If you're thinking party, don't come. If you're a food snob don't come. If you expect shows and to be entertained, don't come. If you are looking to relax, kick back, and enjoy what God has created around you, you're in for a treat. It's Irie.
