Mendocino Coast, California: Small Towns Along Scenic Oceanfront and Redwood Forests

Northern California’s Mendocino Coast is a region of tiny towns and art colonies with varied terrain. Within a few minutes of one another are sunlit valleys, fertile vineyards, rocky headlands blanketed by fog, and serene forests of old-growth redwoods. The Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens showcase the area’s geographical diversity through prickly succulents and colorful blooms stretching to the ocean.

Partially because of its scenic land and sea scapes, the coast is popular with painters, who gather in artists’ collectives such as the Mendocino Art Center. Visitors can see the land that inspires local artwork by heading to any of the region’s coastal state parks. At Mendocino Headlands State Park, waves crash into grottos and stony bluffs, and MacKerricher State Park has dramatic sand dunes.

Disappointed… Nice clean inn. Parking very tight. Staff not the friendliest. We drove 5 hours down from Northern California and the owner said she might have our room ready by 4..with only 30 rooms to clean staff could have had rooms ready. Pictures a little deceiving..inn along busy road. Located very close to Glass Beach.

Nice Room was clean good size- we had a problem with the tv and had to change rooms- the girl was right on to fix the problem. Very covid safe- love the bathroom shower - easy to check in- we did see only one bugs or beetle - only one- nothing to complain about- maybe because of location. Safeway for food-nice outside patio- great shower.

More than dissappointing. BUGS! Bugs...yes, more than one. Clerk said not to worry the bugs were only what is up in the area. My gosh! I paid good money for this room. Bugs on the pillow and bugs on the bed, Flies in the room. UGH! I can't understand why anyone would give this dump a 10 rating. I made the reservation months ago and got the worst room in the house. The clerk said she had nothing, understandable, but really so many bugs. Don't stay here. The room is less than a foot from the main entry to the room door. The said myabe we would get a reduced rate...how about killing the bugs and all the flies in the room!!!!!! If I could give this a less than one rating I would do so. The sidewalk is less than 10 feet from the bed...groan. Never again.
