Myrtle Beach, South Carolina: Sandy Beaches, Golf Courses, and Classic Amusement-Park Rides

Myrtle Beach is the crown jewel of South Carolina's Grand Strand, a 60-mile stretch of white-sand beaches along the Atlantic seaboard that draws surfers, fishers, and kayakers. The city was named one of the best vacation spots in the United States for a family by USA Today, in part because of its wooden boardwalk, which stretches for more than a mile. Hop into the SkyWheel Ferris wheel’s gondolas, surrounded by more than a million LED lights, for a panoramic view of the city below.

Less than 20 miles south of Myrtle Beach, the tiny fishing village of Murrells Inlet provides a tranquil contrast to the boardwalk's hustle and bustle. At Brookgreen Gardens, more than 2,000 sculptures stand amid sprawling floral gardens and massive, moss-covered oak trees that have been around for centuries. Murrells Inlet is also home to the Tom Fazio–designed TPC Myrtle Beach golf course, 1 of nearly 80 courses in the area that helped Myrtle Beach earn its title as the seaside golf capital of the world.

Vacationer Beware!!!!! Vacationer Beware: This Unit 720 Is Not As Advertised We booked this condo based on its high ratings and were shocked by our experience. Upon entering, an unpleasant smell was immediately noticeable. My husband and I quickly realized the unit was far from the clean standard shown in the pictures and was in serious need of a deep clean. Our concerns escalated when we checked the bed for bed bugs and were disgusted to find multiple soiled linens under the sheets. The final straw came when we opened the dishwasher, and several cockroaches came crawling out. The thought of my small children crawling on the floor with live roaches was unbearable. We immediately contacted the owner, the management company, and VRBO to report the issues. The management company was kind and understanding, offering a cleaning crew and maintenance. However, neither of those options would eliminate the live roaches in the unit, so we decided to check out immediately, willing to lose our money. Unfortunately, the owner refused a refund, and VRBO was unable to help us get our money back. I have since filed a formal complaint and am waiting for their response. For anyone considering this rental, I would strongly recommend reading some of the older reviews and not relying on the recent 10/10 ratings. I have also attached pictures of the cockroaches and dirty linens. Enjoy!

Perfect family Vacation with kids of all ages We have stayed here before with all 5 kids from age 4-21. It’s such a great location with so much to do. Plenty of pools and hot tubs. Great shops and restaurants within walking distance and right on the beach. Something to entertain all ages. This is our go to for our family. We stay in the paradise tower and get the 3 bedroom. We use to enjoy the papas breakfast but only went 1 day this year as the price has went up and now you have to pay to take a to go box. There is a Walmart a close drive so we stick up on groceries. They dint have a pizza cutter or pizza pan in the rooms but can always bring from home to save on food cost.

We won’t be returning. At check in, the woman helping me was very rude at check in. I was not made aware that our room would be across the busy street from the actual hotel. I did not feel safe crossing that road multiple times with a small child. I had to end up paying for an upgrade to an oceanfront room, as they claimed that was the ONLY other room available. The parking is across the street from the hotel as well and the deck is very, very old and is almost impossible to get anything bigger than a compact car in and out of the parks. The first night of our stay was decent… Other than our thermostat wouldn’t go below 70 degrees. The room was clean and spacious. The second night of our stay, when we returned from dinner our AC had apparently went out in our room. After 2 separate visits from maintenance, our room was just getting hotter and hotter. I went down to the front desk to see if we could move to another room. The manager was no better than the first woman that helped us at check in. He claimed that there was no other rooms that we could move to. And I asked what if we checked out and went to a different hotel, he informed me that he would not be refunding the second nights stay if we chose to check out (Mind you, due to no fault of our own). I looked on their website and there was in fact another room, comparable to the size room we were already in, although the manager claimed there were completely sold out. I asked why could we not move to this room? He said that that room had just been cleaned and the previous guests claimed that were was a smell in that room. I asked to be moved to that room for the night as we could deal with a smell better than we could trying to sleep in a room that’s 80 degrees. There was a slight sewage smell the longer we stayed in the room but it was bearable, and at least we had AC! The rooms are clean and updated. Overall it is a nice hotel though the facility it self needs some maintenance it seems. Our biggest issue was the staff at the front desk. They are not very accommodating to guests and sadly, we will not be returning due to this.
