Traveler's Tips

Important Information Before You Book We want to make sure you have a smooth and enjoyable stay—please take a moment to review a few important notes to help set expectations:

  • Elevator Wait Times: Due to the historic nature of the building, elevator service may be slower during peak times. We recommend allowing extra time when planning outings or check-out. High floors may experience longer wait times.
  • Security & Access: For your safety, elevators require key card access. Stairwell access is limited to emergency use only.
  • Room Size & Features: Rooms have a vintage layout and charm, which means some may be smaller than modern hotels. Please note: some “double” beds may be full-size, not queen. Room features include a coffee maker, small TV, and safe.
  • Deposit Policy: A $100 refundable deposit is required at check-in via credit card. This will be returned upon checkout, assuming no incidental charges.
  • Parking: Self-parking is available for $25, and valet service at The Claridge is available for $35 (credit card only). Lost parking tickets will incur a fee.
  • Pool & Amenities: Access to the pool and arcade are included, but availability may be affected by maintenance, staffing, or seasonal demand. Please call ahead to confirm access during your stay.

Terrible Dirty not in good condition Date of Stay: August 5, 2025 Claridge Hotel, Atlantic City A Deeply Disappointing Experience – Not Worthy of Its Rating We checked into the Claridge Hotel in Atlantic City on August 5, 2025, hoping for a pleasant stay at a once-iconic property. What we encountered was shocking and unacceptable. The parking lot was dirty and poorly maintained, immediately raising concerns. We entered the hotel through an old, filthy elevator and arrived at the lobby feeling uneasy. Thankfully, the front desk staff was exceptional — professional, kind, and attentive. They were the only positive part of our experience. We were given a room on the 21st floor. The hallways were in terrible shape — peeling paint, stained carpet, and a strong musty, moldy smell. Our room was worse: it smelled of mildew, felt unclean, and the toilet had not even been flushed. Disgusted, I returned to the front desk and asked for a different room. The second room was only marginally better — the smell was less offensive, but the carpet was still filthy, the bed linens looked old and unwashed, and the toilet wouldn’t flush at all. That was the last straw. We returned to the front desk and checked out just 46 minutes after checking in. While I cannot speak highly enough of the courtesy and professionalism of the front desk team, the condition of the hotel is appalling. This is not a 3.5-star hotel — it is not even worthy of 1.5 stars in its current condition. The Claridge is in desperate need of a total renovation and deep cleaning. It’s sad to see such a historic property fall into such disgrace. A terrible experience — one I would never repeat or recommend.

Not recommended I would not recommend this hotel at all. By far one of my worst experiences in a hotel. When we arrived we waited for one hour to check in. There were so many people and so much noise. The queues for the elevators was endless and a long waiting time. Later we realized some people had gotten stuck in the elevator. We wanted to take the stairs and it was like a maze finding our way. No clear way to go. I don’t even want to think about what would happen if there should be a fire in the building. The stairs were not kept and they were dirty. You could smell urine and pot. Anyone can come in to the hotel and to the stairs at anytime so I assume homeless people are using stairs to stay. There were dirty towels from previous guests in the closet. There was a lot of dust and not clean in the bathroom. They made only one out of two beds when they checked in on the room during the second day. I’ve been to many hotels but this was by far my worst experience
