The Country Inn at Camden / Rockport is a short drive from Maine’s coastline and located between the towns of Rockport and Camden, where there are local dining and shopping options.

Rockport, Maine: Picturesque Coastal Town and Home of Andre the Seal

Named as one of the prettiest towns in America by Forbes in 2008, Rockport, Maine, is a small town on the coast of Maine with a picturesque harbor. It was once the home of Andre the Seal, a tame seal adopted by the Goodridge family in the 1970s who became famous enough to have his own book, A Seal Called Andre, and movie made about his life. You can visit the statue of Andre next to the harbor.

Rockport is known as an artists’ community and has plentiful local shops and galleries, but it’s also a haven for outdoor enthusiasts. It’s a 15-minute drive to the state-run ferries bring you to offshore islands, such as Isleboro and North Haven; each island has its own distinct local vibe. In nearby Rockland, you can take a walk along the shoreline to the harbor light, or head to the hiking trails across the ridges of the Camden Hills to get expansive views of the surrounding area.
