Dupont Circle, Washington, DC: Historic Charm and Dynamic Nightlife

In Dupont Circle, located about 2 miles northwest of downtown, foreign embassies housed in historic mansions neighbor hole-in-the-wall bars and boutiques. During the day, crowds gather in Dupont Circle’s park to watch chess players hustle on permanent stone-table boards. Here, you can see the neighborhood’s elaborate centerpiece—the two-tiered, white-marble Dupont Circle Fountain. At night, check out the bars along Connecticut Avenue, which range from Latin lounges to beer pubs and high-end clubs.

Two blocks from the fountain, The Phillips Collection showcases paintings by Renoir, van Gogh, and O’Keeffe. A quick ride on the Metro will get you near the National Mall, a tree-lined open space that stretches 2.5 miles, from the US Capitol Building, past the Smithsonian museums to the Lincoln Memorial.

A hotel with character This is a very charming hotel with a lot of character, and it was interesting just to walk round all the different areas. It's a little worn in places but is clean and comfortable. My room was also full of character and comfy. Great shower with a thermostat. I was with a tour so we had a private breakfast but there was also an area where you could purchase various food items. The food seemed quite expensive, as was the coffee although pleasant. The hotel is in a good location for various places of interest and the metro. I really liked this hotel and would recommend it from the three nights I was there.

Built in 1927 and hasn't been updated since!_ Super cute and quaint little area. When you walk in this hotel, it's really pretty and the staff is very professional and nice, but the rooms, furniture, and curtains are seriously outdated! The first room I was in was spacious, and the view was nice, but the heat didn't work and the water wouldn't get hot. So after trying to get warm, I told the front desk agent about my issue. He sent up maintenance and the maintenance guy brought me a space heater. Next I tried to take a shower and realized the water didn't even get warm, let alone hot. So now I have no choice but to change rooms. (Ughhh_) The 2nd room was way worse. I didn't even call to complain bc I didn't want to be "that customer!" The tub was peeling...and my sheets had blood on them. So now I'm heated! I had to bleach the room down, but Luckily, I was able to take the sheets from the 1st room and change them myself.___ Check out the pictures and see for yourself. These rooms look like your grandmothers house with a funny smell!_ Get a makeover PLEASEEEE!!!!
