Hotel at a Glance: The Georgian Terrace Hotel

You’ll find more than a century of history at the Georgian Terrace Hotel; opened in 1911 and renovated in May of 2016, Atlanta’s grand downtown hotel has hosted everything from the world premiere of Gone with the Wind and dance lessons taught by Arthur Murray himself to visits by numerous Presidents and concerts by the Ramones and Patti Smith. Today, the hotel combines its original grandeur with touches of contemporary amenities; guest rooms and suites include free WiFi and HDTVs, while premier rooms and suites add the luxury of extra space and designer decor.

  • Take a dip in the rooftop pool.

Atlanta, Georgia: Urban Parks and Renowned Aquarium in Capital of the South

Named 1 of 50 Places of a Lifetime by National Geographic, Atlanta lies near the Chattahoochee River in Georgia’s northwest region known for its famed trees: magnolias, pines, and dogwoods. Despite a metropolitan population of more than five million and what is considered the world’s busiest airport by passenger count, Atlanta seems to always offer a relaxing escape. Stroll through the 185 acres of botanical gardens, hiking trails, and oaks at Piedmont Park, or study one of the country’s largest Civil War exhibitions at the Atlanta History Center.

Anchored by historical Peachtree Street, the city’s midtown area boasts a thriving arts-and-culture scene. Opened in 1929, the Fox Theatre features imposing Egyptian architecture and a custom-made organ with a network of 3,622 pipes. Tours take place on Monday, Thursday, and Saturday. The High Museum of Art spotlights more than 12,000 pieces of contemporary and folk art, ranging from Renaissance paintings to photographs from the civil-rights era. Kids might better enjoy the Georgia Aquarium, located downtown at Centennial Olympic Park. One of the world’s largest aquariums with more than 8 million gallons of fresh and marine water and more than 100,000 animals, the aquarium is home to beluga whales, lionfish, whale sharks, bottlenose dolphins, and more.

Excellent Service!! This 5star review is due to the tremendous amount of service excellence that we received from the hotel; the desk agents, housekeeping, maintenance, the café staff...everyone was really great! most notably Fojan! Fojan the front office manager was amazing! From the time we checked in, throughout all of our hardships, and still continued excellent service by the time we checked out. She went above and beyond to make sure my family was ok and that we received an extremely comfortable stay! The personalized attention she gave us, regular text check ins, and effort to do all she could to help, were sincerely appreciated by my family. We had an issue with our room (there was a leak), and the night time desk agent (i cant recall her name) immediately got us switched to a new room & upgraded! (great service again!) Fojan checked in on us in the morning to make sure we were comfortable and that everything was fine with the room, and continued to check in on us throughout our stay. Unfortunately, due to the global IT outage that impacted major airlines, our travel had to be extended for two additional nights due to our flights being cancelled and delayed. Fojan made sure to check in with us at least twice a day to ensure we were ok, she remained flexible, and always offered support. She went above and beyond to help us navigate the unexpected. Other family members that were apart of the reunion(but on separate rooms), were impacted as well due to cancelled flights; Fojan again stepped up, and did all she could to help out those other guest as well. there was so much uncertainty with the airlines, and when/if we would ever get on a confirmed flight.... but with the help and impeccable service from Fojan- my family was well taken care of, and was able to comfortably sleep each additional night that our flights were cancelled. by the end of the second day of cancelled flights, endless hours of hold times and phone calls with the airline, two days full with anxiety and worry on when we would ever make it home- I was at my wits end and mentally drained... to my surprise the sweetest gift arrived at the door; a basket with snacks and treats along with a personalized note from Fojan! it was just what we needed for a relaxing movie night in! I did not expect this- but my family was so appreciative of the effort put forth with everything that was happening. Fojan M.: my family thanks you (and the other desk agents) that were so helpful, considerate, and went above and beyond for us!!! This part of the review will be just about the hotel itself... as i hope it will be helpful for other travelers. The hotel: the location is nice. Pretty close to most things, and directly across the street from the Fox theater.  Common areas were well kept and clean. We arrived on a Thursday for a family reunion... we were a family of 5 staying in a 3bedroom suite. The suite was spacious and clean. However there were a few things that felt a little dated/worn (the window shades, and floors) but was not a huge issue. Also should mention that even though the 3bedroom suite had a full size, fully equipped kitchen(stove, microwave, dishwasher, island)- there was only a mini fridge... which was odd and a little disappointing. this could be kind of a big deal for families traveling and expecting to cook meals in the suite to eliminate take-out/and or lessen dinning out cost. its probably also worth mentioning that the pool is not open (if i recall correctly we were informed it has been closed for renovations for over 1yr), however, when looking up the hotel there are still photos of a pool, so there may be some confusion there (my youngest was bummed about there not being a pool). Overall, just based on the Hotel alone; i would give 3.5 maybe 4 out of 5 rating; its solid, clean, nice, spacious suites, older hotel had some renovations, could use a few touch ups here and there... however as mentioned in the beginning; the extraordinary level of service from the staff (and my fav Fojan), that my family received ,deserves 10's across the board!!!! Thank you Georgian Terrace Hotel & staff!!!

Amazing Penthouse Stay What a wonderful stay! We were 2 senior couples who booked a 2-bedroom suite but were upgraded at check-in to penthouse suite! What a lovely stay! It was made even better by the excellent service from Jada, a member of the front desk staff. From her beautiful smile to her efficiency, she was a complete joy! What an asset to this amazing stay! Can’t wait to return!

Huge 3 Bedroom Apartment Perfect for Family Stayed in the 3 bedroom apartment so each child would have their own space, something very hard to find in hotels (and I won't do airbnbs). Fantastic location and a great view. Kitchen was stocked- another bonus as we save money on eating in AND laundry facilities in the room helped us pack lightly. The beds were comfortable, the staff was wonderful. Valet parking worth the extra cost (even though I rarely use valet) as every single staff member was friendly and helpful and calling for car was so convenient and easy. Sad that the pool was not open, hopefully it will reopen sometime in the future as that would have made it exactly what we needed. It is a beautiful old historic building so there should not be an expectation of perfection and it is easy to see that some of the updates through the years could have been better but none of those issues affect the ability to enjoy the stay in this spacious apartment.
