Times Square, Manhattan: Flashy Neon Lights and World-Class Culture

Times Square is at the intersection of Broadway and Seventh Avenue in Midtown Manhattan. The famous address—affectionately known as “the Crossroads of the World”—is home to hypnotizing billboards, giant wraparound news tickers, and the neon lights of Broadway. Beyond the glitz and gimmicks, there are a number of cultural offerings in the area, ranging from museums to Michelin-rated restaurants. Buildings of historical and architectural interest include the Paramount Building and One Times Square, site of the annual New Year’s Eve ball drop.

Nearby, the Museum of Modern Art houses a trove of masterpieces including Vincent van Gogh’s The Starry Night, Claude Monet’s Water Lilies paintings, and Andy Warhol’s Campbell’s Soup Cans. Save time for a stroll through the museum’s outdoor sculpture garden, where installations are clustered around sparkling reflecting pools. About a mile north of Times Square, the David H. Koch Theater is home to one of the world’s foremost dance companies—the New York City Ballet, which stages contemporary works as well as classics like Swan Lake and The Nutcracker.

Love the hotel! It’s clean comfortable and chic. I did not like to be on the second floor because nyc is loud but that’s any hotel if you get the bottom floors. Other than that the hotel deserves 5 stars Also customer service was great .

A Great Stay Every Single Time I chanced upon The Gregory when two of my favorite staples - The St Regis and the Peninsula - were booked. The smaller, boutique hotel doesn’t have the flair or the haute cuisine or decor of the two, but it makes up for it with great service and decent rooms. The little restaurant downstairs is great for business meetings or a nightcap and the hotel is easily accessible to the Empire State Bldg and other city attractions and the subway.

Disappointing experience in a hotel with a great location We were 4 adults. Location very good; porter excellent - friendly; reception lady was reluctant to give us a twin room for our adult son & daughter as requested in our booking; one of the 2 lifts never worked for the 5 days we stayed there; the only other lift was slow & erratic and frequently used by the cleaning staff so it wasn't available for guests; the stairs were a health hazard - narrow marble steps which were worn & the banister on one side was semi-submerged into the wall; night 2 was terrible: the air conditioner unit was sited through the window and as it rained most of the night, we had rain dripping constantly onto the unit making a constant noise - we had to ask to change rooms; food was served in the bar area which wasn't very inviting; bedrooms were clean & tidied daily - no issues
