I'm flying late on Wednesday but won't be able to check in till midnight. Do I book the reservation for Thursday or Wednesday?

You'll need to reserve Wednesday night, and late check in must be arranged with the hotel directly, and is subject to availability.

Q:

if you need to change your date with in the guidelines (by October of 2013) and cancel and rebook also within 48 hours of your booking date is this acceptable? In other words can I book a date and then change the date if needed to something later?

A:

Unfortunately this will not be possible. After you purchase, you can not modify your dates. Once canceled your reservation can not be rescheduled.

Is there a time limit to how late we can check in? For example, I don't think we'll be arrive in NOLA until 11pm. Will that be a problem?
