Rustic and Sweet, but Several Disappointments We really enjoyed the rustic charm of the lodge and its amenities, and the staff was friendly throughout our stay. That said, there were several challenges. The location of our room was especially difficult. Being the very first room by the exit door, we constantly heard it opening and closing at all hours. Saturday night was especially tough with a wedding on-site—the door slammed nonstop, making it hard to sleep for both me and my dog, since it often sounded like our own door was opening. While we appreciated the convenience of being on the first floor for pet owners, the noise level was much higher than expected. Honestly, the first room by the exit doors should never be rented out—it’s simply a terrible location for a guest room. I shared this feedback via text when the staff checked in during our stay. Housekeeping was another issue. On Monday morning, I received a text asking if we’d like room service and what time would be best. I requested 10am and received confirmation, but when we returned at 1:30, the room had not been cleaned or replenished. I ended up having to text again just to request towels and toilet paper. The bar was also closed during our entire stay. It would have been nice to enjoy a drink with my husband while the kids were in the game room, especially over a holiday weekend when you’d expect it to be open. Lastly, one of the most unprofessional aspects was the smoking. Staff members were often sitting outside on the back stairs smoking, and I frequently had to walk around them. Even when I checked in, the girl at the front desk reeked of smoke, which did not make a good first impression. Honestly, smoking should not be allowed on the property at all, especially in such a family-friendly, rustic setting. Overall, the lodge has a lot of charm and potential, but these issues made our stay less enjoyable than we had hoped.

Wonderful upstate escape Great activities offered (movie night, kayaking, tye-dye for kids), property so peaceful and beautiful. Kids loved s'mores every night by the fires. The food at the restaurant was very tasty, staff everywhere extremely helpful.

Fun Amenities, Helpful Staff, Needs a little Polishing We stayed at the lodge last week and overall had a nice family getaway. The pool and hot tub were enjoyable, though the pool area could use some sprucing up—there were crackers on the floor during our whole stay, cups left on ledges, and some cobwebs that weren’t cleaned. The hot tub could have been a little warmer, but it was still relaxing. A unique feature is that each restroom has a sauna, though I wish it wasn’t inside the bathrooms so families could enjoy it together. The kids loved all the on-site activities—mini golf, volleyball, soccer, and the gaga pit kept them busy and entertained without us having to leave the property. The fire pit at night was another highlight, especially with the complimentary s’mores kits, which was such a thoughtful touch. The game room was probably the biggest hit—it’s open 24/7 and gave us a lot of fun family bonding time. The gym was also better equipped than many hotel gyms we’ve seen, which was a nice surprise. Lake access is across the busy main road and a bit of a hike, it’s nice but needs a sprucing… toys, chairs and other random things just thrown about. We stayed in the main lodge. The room itself felt like a standard hotel room with a bit of a rustic log-cabin vibe. It could definitely use some updates and more lighting, but it was comfortable enough. Housekeeping refreshed towels and emptied garbage during our stay, which we appreciated, though we did find an Invisalign under the bed left from a previous guest. The biggest disappointment was the on-site restaurant—the food was bland, overpriced, and not something we’d choose again. On the other hand, the warm chocolate chip cookies at check-in were absolutely delicious (we would have happily eaten a dozen more!). As a general manager of a hotel and restaurant myself, I know I can be particular when evaluating a property. While this lodge doesn’t score a perfect 100, it still offered a genuinely good experience overall. The staff were helpful, the amenities made it easy to stay on-site, and our family had a fun, memorable stay. We would likely return for another visit but would choose To have a cabin or château over the main lodge.

Nice lodge, crummy suite Don’t stay in suite 206. Good location, nice restaurant. Much quieter than staying in Lake George. Only issue we had is we upgraded to a suite for which the sitting room had cold air blowing in which we could not turn off.
