The room was clean and the staff was very helpful. The location is right on the boardwalk! Beach is far enough so salt isn't an issue. Very retro; not corporate at all. Tiny bathroom though.

The Wildwoods, New Jersey: Classic Boardwalk Fun and Doo-Wop-Era History

Less than an hour south of Atlantic City, you’ll find the Wildwoods, a cluster of towns set on a barrier island just off New Jersey’s southernmost point. Though the area is more subdued than Atlantic City, families will still find a dizzying assortment of carnival rides, malt shops, and arcade games along the Wildwoods Boardwalk.

During the 1950s and ’60s, the area became a hot spot for up-and-coming rock and doo-wop singers, including Chubby Checker, Bill Haley, and Bobby Rydell, who immortalized the city’s carefree spirit in the tune “Wildwood Days.” You can learn more about the era at the Doo Wop Experience and Neon Sign Garden, which pays homage to mid-20th-century music, decor, and advertising.

Clean. Manager was super courteous and helpful. Did not feel corporate; unique retro feel with modern conveniences. Bathroom was tiny but functional. Right around the corner from the boardwalk. Everything was in walking distance.

The rooms were just okay. The bathrooms were very small. The hotel clerk complained about the noise and it was about 9pm, a large group and coming from the boardwalk, didn't give us chance to get into our rooms. Definitely was not kid friendly. Wouldn't stay there again.

Good hotel - some strange customer service going on here They charged the wrong card. 2 separate rooms - 2 separate couples and they charged everything to our card. When I asked if they could email me a copy of the credit, they stated "call your credit card and they will tell you if you got a credit". Wow - that is helpful?/?? The receipts they emailed me did not even give the last 4 digits of the card to confirm which card was amended and charged. The person answering the phone would not disclose her name when ask "Who am I speaking with". Therefore, they must have only one receptionist because she said she is the only one who answers the phone. She must be EXHAUSTED working all those hours. I would not recommend making a reservation without confirming when yiu check out if they charge you correctly. SMH - customer service was definitely under par.

Scammers running a dirty motel I booked this vacation back in April and looked forward to it every day since - unfortunately, it ended up being a sh!t-show from day 1. First off, not only did they tack on an extra $40 on what they invoiced me, but the room they tried to put us in had the doorknob HANGING off the door. When my husband told the front office, they said the maintenance guy wouldn’t be around for a day or so, but if we really wanted to, they’ll move us to a new room. Yeah, I’d like a door with a functional handle - literally the bare minimum. The idiocracy is real, and this is only the beginning. We get in the room they moved us to and it wreaks of urine. Okay, I get it, it’s a pet friendly motel, but do you not have cleaning standards? There was left over tooth whitening paste leaking in the bathroom cabinet and smeared on the door frame. The air conditioning didn’t work unless you put it on 60°, the tv kept going in and out, the walls were dirty and there were weird stains all over the bedding. A few of the towels we were given looked like they had dried blood on them. As if these instances weren’t unpleasant enough, here’s where I find out I’m renting a room from a bunch of no good charlatans: I check my bank account on our 3rd day there and notice 2 additional charges in the amount of $40 to my card for a total of $80. I went in the office and the woman at the desk made some lame excuse about the price fluctuating due to the different days of the week, however, I was already given the breakdown of each day in my original invoice, so what she was saying didn’t make sense - especially after she already charged my card $511 when it was supposed to be $471. She told me I would only be charged $40 extra, not $80; I still thought it was ridiculous and didn’t make sense, but I gave her the benefit of the doubt and thanked her for the explanation. The next and last day of our trip, I check my bank account again to find ANOTHER $40 charge. When my husband and I confronted the woman at the desk about this, she started trying to explain but then got equally as confused as us and started making even less sense. (When you’re a scammer and get called out on it, I guess it throws you for a loop.) My husband asked her if these “fluctuating rate fees” are on the website and she said “no.” When he replied “you can’t charge us that then, that’s scamming people”, she smirked. This confirmed to me that she knows she’s fraudulently charging my card. I kept insisting she give me a new invoice, since apparently the original was incorrect and she refused to print a new one with these unexplainable fees; she said she’d email it and it’s now 4 days later with no word at all from her or ANYONE from Monaco Motel. I’ve since found reviews on Yelp and TripAdvisor of vacationers who had the same experience with this place. If you’ve been following, this is now $160 in additional made-up fees. The room was invoiced to me at $471 (that includes $10/night for parking), but they charged my card $40 extra which brought the total to $511, then $40 on 3 different days totaling $120. I’m sharing the screenshots of my original invoice as well as the charges on my banking app. I opened a fraud investigation with the bank and want to warn others in the meantime. I’ll also be reporting to BBB, NJ Division of Consumer Affairs, NJ Dept. of Tourism, and local news media. One of the few (probably only) humorous things I find in this situation is that they have Hinduism symbols and decorations in their front office - good conduct is essential to know the Transcendent Absolute; good luck achieving that with this kind of behavior.

DON’T BOOK THIS MOTEL This was by far the worst place I have ever stayed at in my life! First the owners of the motel try to Scam my friends and I by making up rules and fees that were never mentioned on the website of the motel. They attempted to scam us cause of our ages. Second they then tried to steal my mother’s credit card info and ID and gave me a difficult time when I tried to get a second room since they said that in the room we had stayed at only allowed TWO GUEST when on THEIR WEBSITE it said up to FOUR people. Third the rooms are absolutely ATROCIOUS and they don’t do a thorough cleaning when the rooms are checked out. There was a weird smell in the room/bathroom, the mattress and the sheets had mysterious stains everywhere, and when I had got into the second room I discovered water bottles under the end table and beds and I know for a fact they do not provide water bottles, which only goes to so how dirty the motel really is. It is not worth your money and will only make you stay at WW miserable!
