Lincoln, New Hampshire: New England Town amid White Mountains and Forests

Formerly a mill town, Lincoln is now home to a modest collection of roadside diners and antique shops. But many visitors are drawn to Lincoln for its proximity to the White Mountains. Loon Mountain, the closest peak, looms 3,050 feet above town. The mountain is best known for its ski slopes—there are 61 trails on 370 skiable acres.

Just northeast of town lies Franconia Notch State Park, home to the former site of the Old Man of the Mountain, a rock formation that remains New Hampshire’s state emblem despite having collapsed in 2003. Photogenic nature scenes can be found at almost every turn here. Birch trees jut out of cliffs and thick mats of moss sprawl over giant boulders.

Not to my standard The hotel is very dated. The layout of the club rooms with the double door entrance reminds me of dorms. The air conditioning for the rooms is very loud. When I went to use a towel, it was already dirty. The parking is atrocious. The layout of the gym workout area gives off a strange vibe. The positive was the marketing of the summer special of free breakfast and dinner. We also took advantage of the free pickleball at white mountain pickleball club. The owner of WMPC was welcoming and even opened up just for us! I would recommend playing there if you choose to stay. Overall I would not stay here again or recommend any one else stay here either.

Discovered There was a refrigerator trailer directly under our window. It would come on at least once an hour and run. Since the place was packed I asked for earplugs for everyone. I was told the trailer belonged to the restaurant and wasn’t their problem. Two days with no sleep. Total bs.

Saved my bacon!! Can I give more than a 5 star review? I was in a total pickle. A wedding and they shut off the water to my condo complex with 1 hour notice due to a leak repair. These guys rented me a room on the spot. Great price. They turned a disaster around. How can I thank ed and his team more? You guys are the best!!
